Day 184 - Movie Monday

Top Trio:

1) Patti J. - We just loved this gorgeous card based on the sketch.
2) Regina - For a magnificent monogram where the letter is the card.
3) Cheri S. - For a card that is not only fabulous but for her effort to create it.

Weekly Challenge All-Stars:

Beckynoelle, Sarah (CEA), Chrissie, Celeste, Cheri S., Sherryann, SAM, Rebecca, Jenny S., Rose Miller, Patti J., Kim Mc, Tasia D., Dee, Linda B., and Pamela S. Wade
Congrats to the Top Trio and the Weekly Challenge All-Stars!!!
Today's Challenge:

Like so many, I was saddened to hear of the passing of John Hughes, who directed some of my all-time favorite 80's movies. My absolute favorite of his is Pretty in Pink, which I still enjoy watching when I get the chance. And so that is today's movie, which is intended to inspire your card. Here are a couple of images of the DVD cover, but you can create your card in whatever way the movie inspires you:

Gloria's card:

This card is "pretty in pink" for sure, and I love the image you chose, Gloria!
So let's see how the movie inspires you~

Day 183 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Another Sunday, another sketch!

Here is one to kick off the week. I hope it inspires lots of creativity:

Amy

Sophie

Pam

Gloria

Kristie

Tammy

Vicky

By the way, if you haven't tackled yesterday's Sporty challenge, I just want to say that you can include any sports ball on your card, not just the ones I listed, which were intended to be examples.

See you back here tomorrow for some awards and acknowledgments!

Day 182 - Sporty Saturday

I think we're long overdue for a challenge with a sports theme, don't you agree?

The specifics: Use a ball on your card - baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, golf, or volleyball.

Don't have a stamp, sticker, or patterned paper to use? You can always make one ;)

Here is Vicky's card:

Very nicely done, Vicky!

Have fun with this one and I'll see you back here tomorrow for another sketch :)

Day 181 - White Space

Okay, enough of the EASY challenges! Back to a white space challenge.

Take a look at this image:

Keep all decorations (paper, embellies, sentiments) within the blacked out areas of the card, like Sophie did here:

Beautiful!
Now it's your turn~

Day 180 - Going Vintage

Which is so NOT my thing, and yet I love cards that feature vintage images. I figured, if it's a challenge for me, maybe it's a challenge for some of you. And for those of you who often create this style of card, then please inspire those of us who do not.

Specifically, I want to see a vintage image on your card. Let's see Amy's card:

One of these days, I'm going to give it a try -- this card totally inspires me to do it, thanks, Amy!

Day 179 - Checkerboard Background

That should be the background pattern on your card. Use paper with a checkerboard background or create a checkerboard yourself. How you embellish the card beyond that is up to you.

Do not confuse this with gingham which has a similar appearance but is something different altogether.

Here is Kristie's card:

Very cool!

So.........starting September 6th, we have a new sponsor: Sassy Studio Designs. The DT and I will be featuring images created by owner Lindsay Dyer, and we can't wait to share those with you. So mark your calendars for another fun sponsored week!

Day 178 - Back to School

Well, I've already seen a few of these floating around the web, because a lot of us are gearing up for another school year with the kiddos!

So it seems appropriate to have a card with a Back to School theme - that's it, anything goes as long as it's inspired by the theme!

Let's take a look at Tammy's fab creation:

A+++++ for this gorgeous card, Tammy! Thanks for the inspiration :)

Who else is getting ready for another school year?

Day 177 - Monogram Monday

And here is your......

Top Trio:

1)An - For a cute and clever card that pulled "double duty" beautifully.
2)Lori - For a wonderfully artistic card with alphas and numbers.
3)Pamela - For a terrific Tuesday Trio card.

Congrats and please grab the COTW blinkie for your blogs :)

And let's not forget the Weekly Challenge All-Stars:

Chrissie, Celeste, Tasia D., Rose Miller, Jenny S., Beckynoelle, Linda B., SAM, Rebecca, Patti J., Pamela S. Wade, and Ella

Way to go, Everyone!

And for now for today's challenge....

I've seen this done many times before, and felt that with its popularity, it should be included among the 365 challenges. So all you have to do is include a monogram of some sort on your card. Now, I did a little research on what monograms are because I've seen such a variety, and I wasn't sure of what technically qualifies as one. So we'll use the term loosely and say that an initial or set of initials qualifies, how does that sound?

Gloria's is nicely done, and here it is:

Beautiful color choices, Gloria!

So, no need to Google it, just include a monogram on your card ;)

Day 176 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Happy Sunday Everybody! Are you ready for another fun week at 365 Cards? We might not have a sponsor this week, but we have some great challenges and cards to share. So let's get started with today's sketch:

Sophie

Kristie

Gloria

Amy

Pam

Tammy

Vicky

We can't wait to see your take on the sketch, and we'll see you back here tomorrow for the weekly awards!

Day 175 - Stampin' Saturday

The challenge for today is all about layering stamps. Now, I'm not talking about masking, but actually overlapping stamps to create a really neat effect. Probably the best way to do this is to create a background, but it's not necessary.

Here is what Vicky did with the challenge:

Isn't that beautiful? You really have a lot of freedom with this challenge, and I think you'll have a lot of fun with it, too :)

Day 174 - Just Peachy

And that's the challenge: The dominant color on your card should be peach.

It's such a soft and pretty color - perfect for the theme of Sophie's card:

Absolutely precious, Sophie!

You'll want to mark your calendars for September 6th-15th for a super fun sponsored week, and you can expect more details soon :)

Day 173 - Mixed Message

Ah yes, I amuse myself with the title of many of my challenges. This one is all about combining methods to create a sentiment. Incorporate THREE ways to create a sentiment to make one big sentiment. Mix and match things like stamped, alpha stickers, handwritten, computer-generated, transfers, etc.

Amy really rocked this one, and here it is:

How about a close-up of that sentiment?

That is "sew" cool, dontcha think?
Hmmm - I think it's time to post some info about the big prize I'm giving on my personal blog, so I'm heading over there right now to do that ;)

Day 172 - ABC's and 123's

I guess I must have had school on the brain when I created this challenge...

The details: Create a card with alphabet stickers and include at least one number. Don't have alpha stickers? If you have a stamp set with individual letters and numbers, that qualifies as well.

Here's Kristie's cool card:

What 5 year-old wouldn't like this? It's stellar, thanks Kristie!

Day 171 - Tuesday's Trio

Want to see some winners? Here's your Top Trio from last week:

1) Chupa - for a bee-autiful adaptation of the sketch.
2) Rieca - for a glittery "gift" card that went above and beyond.
3)Cheryl - for blowing us away with the toile stunner.

Congrats ladies - you are welcome to add the COTW blinkie to your blogs!

Here are your Weekly Challenge All-Stars:

Iona S., Chrissie, Quirky, SAM, Jenny S., Tasia D., Celeste, Patti J., Tulin E., Rebecca, Beckynoelle, Michelle M., Hannah S., Cheri S., Carolyn V., Rose Miller, Piali, Michelle K., Kerstin, Sherryann, Linda B., Kim Mc, and Paula M.

Should your name be on this list? Don't hesitate to let me know :)
And a BIG CONGRATS to Tasia D. for winning the big ART GLITTER prize!

Tasia, get your mailing address to me (you'll find my email address in the sidebar) and I'll get that sent off you.

It's been a while since we've had a Trio challenge, so let's do one: Triangle-Sticker-Button, you must incorporate these three things in your card.

You know that Tammy always puts together an amazing trio card, and this once is no exception. Check it out:

I "believe" that I love this card, Tammy!

Thank you all for your contributions to Art Glitter Week - I was incredibly inspired by all the creativity and talent out there.

We have yet another sponsored week coming up in September, so you can expect to get all the details on that in a couple of weeks. For now, let's keep scrapping :)

Day 170 - Double Duty

Well, I hope I made everyone happy by extending last week's deadline by a day, because now I'll probably make you say "Grrrrrrrrr" when you read about today's challenge - LOL!

Today's challenge is called Double Duty because I want you to make a card that doubles as something else.... examples would be a bookmark, a place card, or some sort of pocket card. HOWEVER - NO GIFT CARD HOLDERS OR MONEY HOLDERS!

I just know you want to see what Gloria came up with for this one, and it's fantastic:

It's a bag - so clever! This really doesn't have to be a difficult challenge, and the end result can be quite useful.

Tomorrow I will be back with a nice long post, along with the winner of Art Glitter Week!!

Day 169 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Okay - raise your hand if you Googled toile? Hmmm - I kind of like those pattern challenges, so we'll have to do more of them ;)

But for now, let's do a sketch:

Amy

Kristie

Pam

Gloria

Tammy

Vicky

Sophie

This week I'm very excited to be celebrating my blogoversary over at my personal blog! Join me over there during the next couple weeks, and someone will be winning a fabulous prize package!!

And don't forget that I extended the deadline for completing last week's cards so that you have time to get them done for the Art Glitter prize. Link them up by 11:59 PM EST tonight if you are participating in the drawing.

Day 168 - Touch of Toile

A toile pattern makes a beautiful background - take a look at Vicky's card:

And a stunning card it is, Vicky!! So that's the challenge: use toile as the background pattern. This is the last day of Art Glitter week :( It's been tons of fun, but I do have one little piece of good news... How about an extra day to get those cards done for the week? To qualify for the prize, Top Trio, and Weekly Challenge All-Stars, you need to complete your cards for this week by 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, August 16th.

Alright then, get back to those cards~

Day 167 - "Gift" Card

AKA - "The Card is the Gift", but more about that later...

Want to see the goodies in the prize? Check it out:

When I got my kit, I thought "Cool, look at all the fun different colors of glitter", so then I opened it up, and I couldn't believe all the things I found inside. My favorite accessory is the applicator tip for the adhesive, which is so easy to work with. Have you popped over to the Art Glitter website yet? If so, you may also want to check out their blog, where they feature lots of fun projects.

Today's challenge is all about turning your card into a gift; that is, you will make it look like a beautifully wrapped present. Sophie really embraced the challenge to create this gorgeous "package", with some glitter pn the tag to add a little sparkle:

I think yesterday's challenge was exactly that, so perhaps this one will be a little bit easier and a whole lotta fun to create!

Day 166 - Card Recipe

The challenge: Complete your card using only the ingredients below. Notice that this challenge DOES require you to include glitter:

Ingredients -
4x7 card
5 blossoms
glitter
wet embossed sentiment
3 different patterned papers

Here is Amy's card:

Can you see the glitter? It is the perfect finishing touch for this card - thanks, Amy! Tomorrow I will share a picture of the prize :)

Day 165 - Shape Up!

Wow - you are creating some gorgeous cards out there! I've been doing a better job taking a peek at cards early on this week and I expect to start leaving comments sooner, too!

Just a reminder that although we are featuring glitter on our cards, yours do not have to include glitter to qualify for a prize or acknowledgment :)

Today's challenge is about another shape - a STAR - make that the dominant shape on your card. That means that you don't have to create a star-shaped card, but the star shape should really stand out on your card, whether it's that pattern in the paper, or a giant shape on your card.

Kristie's is definitely dominant, and full of glittery goodness - check it out:

We may be more than halfway through the week, but the fun is not over yet!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Day 164 - Color Scheme

After taking a look at some of the colors in the kit I got to play with from Art Glitter, I thought I'd use some of the colors as inspiration for today's challenge. It's a color scheme challenge. Use the following color scheme on your card:

Tammy created a fun card with these bold colors, check it out:

And did you see where she used her glitter? Speaking of which, the winner of the prize will receive some information all about the glitter and how to use it. I've always enjoyed using glitter on my cards, but this has been more fun than ever!

Day 163 - Try a Technique: Masking

Welcome to the 2nd day of Art Glitter Week!

Let's get started with a look at the Top Trio from last week:

1) Beckynoelle - for this very creative indoor scene that had lots of fabulous details.
2) Glenna - for this cleverly created sunflower.
3) Juls - for this stunning vintage-inspired cool collage card.

And here are the Weekly Challenge All-Stars:

Ella, Crissy, Patti J., Quirky, Tasia D., Jenny S., Celeste, Piali, Rebecca, Carolyn V., Chrissie, Paula M., NW Flamingo, Rose Miller, Linda B., SAM, Michelle M., Kerstin and SherryAnn.

Today I challenge you to try a technique - Masking! Here is a link I found that gives a nice description of this technique. This is just one way to use masking - you can also do some sponging - or in Gloria's case, add glitter - check it out:
You know you want to pop over to Gloria's blog and get the details on this.
BTW - The prize winner will receive a wonderful kit filled with glitter, adhesive, and information on several techniques using glitter.
Back tomorrow with more details and a card from Tammy!
