Like so many, I was saddened to hear of the passing of John Hughes, who directed some of my all-time favorite 80's movies. My absolute favorite of his is Pretty in Pink, which I still enjoy watching when I get the chance. And so that is today's movie, which is intended to inspire your card. Here are a couple of images of the DVD cover, but you can create your card in whatever way the movie inspires you:

Day 182 - Sporty Saturday

I think we're long overdue for a challenge with a sports theme, don't you agree?

The specifics: Use a ball on your card - baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, golf, or volleyball.

Don't have a stamp, sticker, or patterned paper to use? You can always make one ;)

Day 181 - White Space

Okay, enough of the EASY challenges! Back to a white space challenge.

Take a look at this image:

Keep all decorations (paper, embellies, sentiments) within the blacked out areas of the card, like Sophie did here:

Day 180 - Going Vintage

Which is so NOT my thing, and yet I love cards that feature vintage images. I figured, if it's a challenge for me, maybe it's a challenge for some of you. And for those of you who often create this style of card, then please inspire those of us who do not.

Specifically, I want to see a vintage image on your card. Let's see Amy's card:

Day 179 - Checkerboard Background

That should be the background pattern on your card. Use paper with a checkerboard background or create a checkerboard yourself. How you embellish the card beyond that is up to you.

Do not confuse this with gingham which has a similar appearance but is something different altogether.

I've seen this done many times before, and felt that with its popularity, it should be included among the 365 challenges. So all you have to do is include a monogram of some sort on your card. Now, I did a little research on what monograms are because I've seen such a variety, and I wasn't sure of what technically qualifies as one. So we'll use the term loosely and say that an initial or set of initials qualifies, how does that sound?

Gloria's is nicely done, and here it is:

Day 175 - Stampin' Saturday

The challenge for today is all about layering stamps. Now, I'm not talking about masking, but actually overlapping stamps to create a really neat effect. Probably the best way to do this is to create a background, but it's not necessary.

Here is what Vicky did with the challenge:

Isn't that beautiful? You really have a lot of freedom with this challenge, and I think you'll have a lot of fun with it, too :)

Day 174 - Just Peachy

And that's the challenge: The dominant color on your card should be peach.

It's such a soft and pretty color - perfect for the theme of Sophie's card:

Day 173 - Mixed Message

Ah yes, I amuse myself with the title of many of my challenges. This one is all about combining methods to create a sentiment. Incorporate THREE ways to create a sentiment to make one big sentiment. Mix and match things like stamped, alpha stickers, handwritten, computer-generated, transfers, etc.

Amy really rocked this one, and here it is:

That is "sew" cool, dontcha think?

Hmmm - I think it's time to post some info about the big prize I'm giving on my personal blog, so I'm heading over there right now to do that ;)

Day 172 - ABC's and 123's

I guess I must have had school on the brain when I created this challenge...

The details: Create a card with alphabet stickers and include at least one number. Don't have alpha stickers? If you have a stamp set with individual letters and numbers, that qualifies as well.

Day 170 - Double Duty

Well, I hope I made everyone happy by extending last week's deadline by a day, because now I'll probably make you say "Grrrrrrrrr" when you read about today's challenge - LOL!

Today's challenge is called Double Duty because I want you to make a card that doubles as something else.... examples would be a bookmark, a place card, or some sort of pocket card. HOWEVER - NO GIFT CARD HOLDERS OR MONEY HOLDERS!

I just know you want to see what Gloria came up with for this one, and it's fantastic:

It's a bag - so clever! This really doesn't have to be a difficult challenge, and the end result can be quite useful.

Day 168 - Touch of Toile

A toile pattern makes a beautiful background - take a look at Vicky's card:

And a stunning card it is, Vicky!! So that's the challenge: use toile as the background pattern. This is the last day of Art Glitter week :( It's been tons of fun, but I do have one little piece of good news... How about an extra day to get those cards done for the week? Day 167 - "Gift" Card

AKA - "The Card is the Gift", but more about that later...

When I got my kit, I thought "Cool, look at all the fun different colors of glitter", so then I opened it up, and I couldn't believe all the things I found inside. My favorite accessory is the applicator tip for the adhesive, which is so easy to work with. Have you popped over to the Art Glitter website yet? If so, you may also want to check out their blog, where they feature lots of fun projects.

Today's challenge is all about turning your card into a gift; that is, you will make it look like a beautifully wrapped present. Sophie really embraced the challenge to create this gorgeous "package", with some glitter pn the tag to add a little sparkle:

I think yesterday's challenge was exactly that, so perhaps this one will be a little bit easier and a whole lotta fun to create!

Day 166 - Card Recipe

The challenge: Complete your card using only the ingredients below. Notice that this challenge DOES require you to include glitter:



Ingredients -
4x7 card
5 blossoms
glitter
wet embossed sentiment
3 different patterned papers

Day 165 - Shape Up!

Wow - you are creating some gorgeous cards out there! I've been doing a better job taking a peek at cards early on this week and I expect to start leaving comments sooner, too!

Just a reminder that although we are featuring glitter on our cards, yours do not have to include glitter to qualify for a prize or acknowledgment :)

Today's challenge is about another shape - a STAR - make that the dominant shape on your card. That means that you don't have to create a star-shaped card, but the star shape should really stand out on your card, whether it's that pattern in the paper, or a giant shape on your card.

Day 164 - Color Scheme

After taking a look at some of the colors in the kit I got to play with from Art Glitter, I thought I'd use some of the colors as inspiration for today's challenge. It's a color scheme challenge. Use the following color scheme on your card:

And did you see where she used her glitter? Speaking of which, the winner of the prize will receive some information all about the glitter and how to use it. I've always enjoyed using glitter on my cards, but this has been more fun than ever!

Day 163 - Try a Technique: Masking
