Day 275 - 'Tis The Season

First of all, I want to apologize, because I would normally post the Top Trio and the Weekly Challenge All-Stars, but I spent the entire weekend selling cards at a local bazaar, and I'm afraid I didn't finish looking at all your wonderful cards. I will finish today and post that info tomorrow, and I thank you for your patience :)

Now I will get to today's challenge. Whether or not you celebrate Christmas, you're probably seeing RED and GREEN all over the place. I know I am, so of course that color combo popped in my head. So that's the challenge: Put lots of green and red on your card.

Not only did Gloria include those colors on her card, but she used a super sweet snow person image from KLM Designs:

I love that it looks like it's snowing in the background, Gloria!!
Now, your card does not have to be a Christmas card - any theme will do, as long as red and green are the dominant colors.

Day 274 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Welcome to KLM Designs Week!!!!

This week the Design Team will feature digital images from KLM Digital Designs on our cards.
I will tell you more about this wonderful store, as well as details about the prize as the week continues.

For now, let's review the rules:

1) Each card must be a new creation for the challenge under which it is posted.

2) Each challenge you complete will earn you a chance to win the prize at the end of the week (up to 7 possible entries), at which time a prize will be awarded to a random winner.

3) You will have until Sunday, December 6th 11:59 PM EST to upload your cards.

4) Have fun!

Here's the sketch:

And the Design Team Cards:

For details about the images we worked with, please check out our individual blogs. If you follow 365 Cards, but you haven't participated yet, please join in the fun!

Day 273 - Pretty Pattern

I think it is safe to say that one of my all time favorite (if not the favorite) pattern is damask. I love, love, love it - and I want to see more of it, so that's your challenge:

Use a damask pattern on your card.

Here is Vicky's card:

Oooh, Vicky, this is so very elegant!!

Remember that if you are applying for that DT position, you still have the rest of today and tomorrow to get your apps in!

Friday, November 27, 2009

Day 272 - Crossing the Line

Or should I say, "crossing the lines", because that's precisely what I want you to do. If you shy away from allowing embellishments to hang over the edge of your card, then this will be a challenge!

Here are the specifics: Place embellishments and/or patterned paper so that it hangs over the edge on 3 sides of your card.

Take a look at Sophie's card:

Absolutely adorable, Sophie, and it meets the requirements!

In just two days we begin another sponsored week, and the DT has been working hard preparing some gorgeous cards to share with you!!

Day 271 - Giving Thanks

Okay, so this one is not so much a challenge as an opportunity. Here in the U.S., people all across the country are celebrating Thanksgiving (including me!), and we're taking a moment to give thanks for all the blessings in our lives. So that's what this challenge is about - no matter where you live, I am sure there is someone for whom you are thankful. It doesn't have to be a thank you card (unless you want it to be), but be sure to let us know who inspired your card.

Amy wanted to create cards for two special people in her life:

To find out who Amy made the cards for, swing by her blog and read all about it.
And on my list this year is all of you 365ers - I am thankful for all of you, whether you stop by just to find out what the challenge is or you play along, it is that enthusiasm for card making that makes this blog such a wonderful place to be!
Time for me to go make some stuffing for the turkey....

Day 270 - Face It

It's easy enough to stamp a face on your card, or cut one out of some patterned paper, but have you ever thought about making a face out of the elements you place on your card? I've done this before myself, and the result is so fun.

Check out what Kristie came up with for this challenge:

Doesn't this card just make you smile? It certainly does me!

Hmmm....have I mentioned yet that we have another wonderful sponsor next week? Well, we do, and I'll share those details with you soon :)

Until then, just "face it"!

Day 269 - Tied up in Knots

My challenge for you today is to create some knots on your card. You can use ribbon, string - whatever you find that can be used to create knots.

As you can see, I tied some ribbon into knots around the stems of my flowers:

If you want to submit an application to join our design team, you still have several days to get them in. I should also mention that those applications mean consideration for future guest designer spots as well. For submission guidelines, pop over here.

Day 268 - Try a Technique

Ready for another prize winner?
Congratulations to libeeti!!!!

Here's what you've won:

Please email me here, and we can make arrangements for you to receive your gift certificate. And a great big THANK YOU to Digital Delights for sponsoring us this past week!!

And now down to our usual Monday business...

Here's your Top Trio:

1) Janice W. - For a gorgeous (and rounded) take on the sketch.
2) Kelly Jo - For this beautifully stamped ad inspired card.
3) Vanessa Glass - For a Simply Put card that is *Simply* stunning.

And for completing Challenges 260-266, your Weekly Challenge All-Stars:

Rose M., Jenny S., Hannah S., Julia M., Janice, Linda B., Ullis, libeeti, Audrey, SAM, Janice W., and Robyn

I think that today's challenge will be lots of fun. All you need is a stamp pad and a thumb, and you can make some thumbprint art. Let's see what Gloria came up with:

Seriously, Gloria - this card makes ME smile all over my face!!

So I guess if you think you're all thumbs, for this challenge it's a good thing ;)

Day 267 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Here's your Sunday sketch:

Don't forget that you can still get your cards linked up for this past week until 11:59 PM EST tonight for a chance (or several chances!) to win a prize from Digital Delights!

Day 266 - Color Me With This

Here's the answer to an FAQ on the DT Call, and I apologize for not mentioning this at 365 Cards Extra - the duration of the term for this position is approximately 3 months (so it will run thru February 2010). Also, big changes are coming for 365 Cards next year!!

So today's challenge is about coloring in images, but NOT with markers, as are often used. If you find yourself turning to colored pencils or pastels, then this is the challenge for you (and then not so much a challenge). You could even use crayons if you want!

Check out Vicky's beautifully colored image:

Here's a little shout out to my MIL, whom I know will love this - isn't it gorgeous?

Just a reminder that we are being sponsored by Digital Delights this week, and every challenge you complete gives you an entry into a drawing at the end of the week. You have until Sunday to get those cards linked up :)

Day 265 - Simply Put

Before I share today's challenge, I just wanted to share the new deadline for DT applications. Pop over to the Extra blog and check it out...

Today's challenge requires that you keep your card very simply decorated. So here are the details:
One piece of patterned paper, One embellishment, and One sentiment - that's it!Bold

You know that Sophie rocked this one:

SIMPLY gorgeous, Sophie!!
Now it's your turn to keep it simple :)

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Day 264 - Keep it to Yourself

And this Keep it to Yourself challenge is to design a congratulatory card that uses decorations on the outside of the card to help convey the message on the inside of the card.

I think Amy's design is brilliant, check it out:

And the inside message reads: "Way to Go!"

So that's it - no sentiment on the outside, so you'll have to use embellishments, paper, images, etc. that speak for themselves.

Day 263 - Ad Inspired

Have you had a chance to visit the shop over at Digital Delights? If not, take some time now and see all the wonderful images they have to offer!

Also, stop by 365 Cards Extra and find out what you need to do to apply for a spot on our Design Team.

Today we bring you an ad inspired challenge selected by Kristie. Here's the ad:

And here's Kristie's card:

Love that mix of patterns, Kristie! And you've chosen a great ad to work with.
So how does the ad inspire you?

Day 262 - Color Scheme Challenge

It's my great pleasure to introduce today's guest designer! She's a regular participant (I don't think she's missed a challenge yet), and you might have caught some of her banter with Gloria over in the chat box. Well today, you get to see her card right here at 365 Cards. Introducing Rose Miller!!

Align Center

My name is Rose Miller and I have been making cards for a little over a year. I enjoy learning new techniques and see what others have created. I have been married to the most wonderful man for 2 1/2 years now. For our honeymoon we took a month long motorcycle trip west across the states from California to Maine, back east across Canada. It was the best experience ever!! We are empty nesters with two spoiled fur babies.

I asked Rose to use the following colors on her card:

And here's what she came up with:

Thank you, Rose, for sharing this beautiful card and for sharing your wonderfully positive attitude with all of us each and every day!!

Just a reminder that we are being sponsoring by Digital Delights this week and you can find all the details by following the link posted at the top of the sidebar. And here's a little something about Digital Delights:

Digital Delights is just what our name says, a fun store with "Delightful Digital Stamps". Illustrations are by Wendy Hall (or Louby Loo as she has become known in the crafting world!!). Wendy is a trained graphic designer and is delighted to share her creations with you. You can also buy her clear stamps at Clear Dollar Stamps.

Also, if you haven't already, check out the details of our Design Team call here.

So now it's your turn to take that color scheme and come up with a card!Align Center

Your card should include the above "ingredients" and nothing else!

Gloria really created a beautiful card:

Day 260 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Here's the Sunday sketch:

And I have some exciting news to share - this week we are being sponsored by Digital Delights! You must see these wonderful images that they have to offer. And the best part for all you 365ers out there is that you'll have the chance to win a gift certificate to their shop!! But if you don't want to wait, pop over there and pick up some *delightful* digital images right away :)

So let's review the rules:
1) Each card must be a new creation for the challenge under which it is posted.
2) Each card you create is considered a single entry into the random drawing for a prize that will take place at the end of the week. There will be 7 challenges, which means up to 7 entries into the drawing.
3) You must link up your cards by Sunday, November 22nd at 11:59 PM EST in order to have them count as entries into the drawing.
4) You can combine 365 challenges with challenges from other sites, but if you combine 2 or more 365 challenges, they will only count as a single entry.
5) As always, have fun!
I will share some more tidbits about Digital Delights during the week. You'll definitely want to join us tomorrow if you're interested in that DT call - details on tomorrow's post!

Day 259 - Imagine This: Snow

Has this been a great week, or what? Wonderful digital images and card templates from Paper Popsicles, and all of your fabulous cards that you've been linking up this week!

Remember that you have until tomorrow night to link up your cards to have them qualify for the random drawing. For now, let's get to our last challenge for the week.

With winter weather setting in where I live, I thought this would be a fitting challenge. Let SNOW be your inspiration. And for those of you who are feeling sassy, we will not accept any cards that are blank and depicting a blizzard *wink* *wink*. But seriously, let's see how it inspired Vicky's card:

Okay, Vicky, this is just too cute for words - and if I were you, I would never want to give this card away! She used a snowman card shaped template from Paper Popsicles, and I want to go right over to her blog to get the details.

Thanks to Paper Popsicles for sponsoring us this week - we've had a blast!

Friday, November 13, 2009

Day 258 - Put a Lid On It!

And by lid, I mean **hat** :)

Incorporate a hat into your card - whether it be a stamp or patterned paper (or anything else you can think of), just make sure it has a hat on it.

Sophie's card actually is a hat, check it out:

Isn't that great? It's a stocking cap shaped card template from Paper Popsicles, and Sophie turned it into something one of Santa's elves might wear - so cute!

Even though tomorrow is our last day of Paper Popsicles Week, you will still have until Sunday at 11:59 PM EST to get your cards linked up. If you're like me, you get a lot of scrapping done over the weekend, so I hope this gives you all the time you need to catch up.

Day 257 - Picture This

I spend some of my spare time over at the Food Network website, getting ideas and drooling over pictures of yummy food. Here is one of the photos I came across:

I don't know why, but there's just something I love about pink frosting! So I asked Amy to use the above image to inspire her card:

She used a cupcake shaped card template from Paper Popsicles, and the result is super *SWEET*!
Now it's your turn to use the photo above to inspire your card. You DO NOT need to include a cupcake on your card, but you are certainly welcome to.
It's been a great week so far, and there are more fabulous cards to come!!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Day 256 - Perfect Pair

Well, I don't know if it's true, so I guess you'll have to be the judge - do buttons and rick rack make the perfect pair? Well, I asked Kristie to put them together on a card, and she came up with two projects to share!

The first is a tag using a card template in the shape of a gingerbread man from Paper Popsicles:

And here it is as a card:

Well, I don't know about everyone else, but you've sold me on this combo, Kristie!

So give it a try - in order to meet the challenge, all you have to do is include buttons and rick rack on your card.

Day 255 - Let's Patch Things Up

Yikes! I just checked out the participants so far for Monday's challenge, and I see it's not very popular - LOL!

Well, maybe today's challenge will be more of a crowd pleaser ;)

It's something I wanted to try, and since I get to share a card again today, I figured this was the time. I had fun with a digital card template from Paper Popsicles that comes in the shape of a stocking, and you'll see that I added a patch:

This is definitely a "think outside the box" challenge, and I think you can have a lot of fun with it if you give it a chance. All you have to do is add a patch to your card, or to something on your card (e.g. a piece of clothing).

So, do you want the details on the TWO prizes from Paper Popsicles? The first winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to their shop, and the second winner will receive a $10 GC - how cool is that?

Time for us to patch things up now!
