Use at least 3 of the following patterns on your card -
Plaid, Paisley, Gingham, Houndstooth, Toile
Not only did Vicky find patterned paper that worked together without looking too busy, she also came up with a fab color scheme:

So any three of the patterns listed above will do - and if you want to attempt all five, that's ok, too :)

I'm not sure that my card fit your criteria exactly, but I had fun making it and wanted to share. The faux quilt is a great way to use scraps and put designs together that you may otherwise not combine.
OH geez... well, I guess I get to go paper shopping! lol
