Day 364 - Vicky's Signature Style

One more day until the end of this 365 Cards year!!!
Today we feature Vicky's signature style with this card:

When I think of Vicky's style, I imagine soft colors on a white background. Her cards are sharp and clean - lots of florals, whether in the patterned paper or through the use of stamping. Even with several embellishments, everything is tidy and beautifully placed on the card. Your card should embody this style of soft colors and clean lines, and also have a scraplifted feature from Vicky's card.

The Design Team call is officially closed. Thanks to all who have applied, you have made this one difficult decision!

As for Vicky, I am delighted to tell you that she will continue on with us as our Thursday designer!!!

Day 363 - Sophie's Signature Style

Of all our designers, I think Sophie's style is the easiest to describe, although not necessarily the easiest to replicate.
Sophie goes Clean & Simple all the way when it comes to her cards. I am constantly amazed at the way she can select just a few elements and bring them together so beautifully. You can see it in this card here:

I feel as if I work so hard to do something Sophie can do naturally! And if you enjoy Sophie's style, then you'll be as happy as I was to learn that she will stay on as our Friday designer!!

So for this challenge, keep it Clean & Simple and Scraplift an element from Sophie's card.

Remember to get those DT applications in - the deadline ends today...

Day 362 - Amy's Signature Style

WHEW!!! If you popped on the blog earlier today, you saw the post that my wonderful mom had to make on my behalf. Fortunately the internet is back up and working and I can share Amy's card here:

Her style is fun, bright, and whimsical! Your card should have different patterns, bright and bold colors, and a scraplifted feature from Amy's card. I am thrilled to say that Amy will stay on with us as one of our Super Sketchy Sunday designers!!

I'm headed back home today, and it's almost time to select our new designers for the 365 team...

Day 361 - Kristie's Signature Style

So what is Kristie's signature style? Well, I think of it as contemporary - patterns, colors, and designs that reflect the latest trends we see all around us. In fact, it is Kristie who first brought the ad inspired challenge to 365 Cards by selecting ads that were fresh and modern.

When asked to create a card that represents her signature style, here is what Kristie came up with:

Wow, it is just as I described - so classy and stylish, Kristie!

So your challenge is to find inspiration in modern styles - this may seem difficult, but actually you have the entire web at your disposal. It is not necessary to find a photo or advertisement to share, just draw from the latest fashions that surround you. And also, you must scraplift some feature of Kristie's card.

Sadly, we will say goodbye to Kristie as a Design Team member, but we hope that she will join us on challenges when she can. Kristie is an incredibly talented card maker and we are grateful to have had her as a member of the team. We wish you well, Kristie, and hope to see you hanging around here from time to time!!

Day 360 - Audrey's Signature Style

Here's your Top Trio:

1)Angie Tieman - Whose addition of ribbon to this sketch card made this card a winner.
2)Scarlett - Who brought Spring a little early with her beautiful interpretation of Gloria's sketch.
3)Johanna - This take on Audrey's sketch just had that certain something.

And your Weekly Challenge All-Stars:
Tesa B., Jammie, Rose M., Jessica, Caroline, Annie, and Wendi
So today we bring you Audrey's card, and although it's difficult to put a one-word description to Audrey's style, I think of it as fresh, bold, and vibrant. She definitely likes to stamp images on her cards and she colors them beautifully. This card is no exception:

As with yesterday's challenge, use Audrey's card making style (stamped image/s and bold colors should figure into your card) and scraplift a feature from her card.

Just a reminder that our DT call will end on February 26th. For details pop over here.
I'm so pleased that Audrey will be staying on with us and sharing her talent at 365 Cards as our Tuesday designer!

Day 359 - Gloria's Signature Style

What?? No Top Trio or Weekly Challenge All Stars? Well, yes, however I will share that part of the post tomorrow.
For now, I want to thank all of you for joining us on a daily basis this past year, whether you participated from the beginning or jumped in recently, we are so glad to have you play along with us!! I know many people were able to gather inspiration even if you weren't able to play along as often as you would have liked, which is wonderful, since that's what this blog is all about!

This week, our wonderful designers want to share with you some cards based on their signature styles. Week after week they have tackled whatever challenges I have thrown at them, and they've done it well. So for a change they were given some freedom to let their personal styles shine.

So what is the challenge for you?

It's a style and scraplift challenge all rolled into one.

First, let me show you Gloria's card:

This card is vintage inside and out! So that's the first part of the challenge, to create a card with a vintage style. But I want you to use a standout feature on Gloria's card to scraplift. For instance, if you like the way she's organized the embellishments on her card, then you can arrange your embellishments the same way on your card. Just be sure to share with us what you selected and give Gloria proper credit.
Gloria, it has been a tremendous pleasure having you as part of the team, and I look forward to all the cards you will share with us in the coming months!

Day 355 - Amy's Sketch

If you're just joining us, we are bringing you a sketch every single day of this week. All the normal rules of the week apply, but instead of the variety of challenges you would usually see, we will have all sketches for you. What's great is that each designer is bringing her own style to the sketch she's sharing.

Take a look at Amy's sketch:

And her card:

I adore that patterned paper, and you did amazing things with it, Amy!!

So next week we'll be finishing out the year, and we've got an exciting week planned, at the end of which we will welcome several new design team members!

Day 354 - Kristie's Sketch

Shall we see a sketch from Kristie?

My first thought when I saw that sketch was "oooh, this is going to be a challenge!", which of course makes me happy, because I love a real challenge. And then I thought - "I can't wait to see what Kristie does with this", and here's the result:

This is absolutely gorgeous, Kristie!!! I'll be getting this one done....as soon as I finish my card for Audrey's sketch ;)
Have you had a chance to visit 365 Cards Extra to get all the info on the latest DT call? We're quickly approaching the end of this 365 Cards year!!

I have to say - I just kept going back and looking at the Keep it Simple cards - such a wonderful set of cards!!!

Weekly Challenge All-Stars:
Sophia, Doreen, Jessica, Jammie, Lena, and Rose M.
Here is Audrey's sketch for today's challenge:

And her take:

Wow - fab sketch and a gorgeous card to go along with it! I can't wait to get started on this one. More sketchy goodness tomorrow :)

Day 352 - Gloria's Sketch

Are you ready for another sketch?

First, let me apologize and tell you that I've been battling a cold the past few days and I haven't gotten through all the card submissions from last week. I take the Top Trio selection very seriously, and I want to be sure I get to take a look at every card. So I will share that with you in tomorrow's post.
Now let's see Gloria's sketch:

And her take:

Such a sweet card, Gloria!! And thank you for sharing this wonderful sketch. I will definitely give it a try!!
Okay sketch lovers, get started...

Day 350 - Stacked Up

For this challenge, you need to be thinking about layers...

Create at least 3 stacks of different items on your card.

Those items can be anything from patterned paper to all sorts of embellishments that can be stacked, but having only 3 stacks of one type of item (e.g. buttons) will not count for the challenge.

Here is Vicky's card:

So here are the stacks I see: Patterned paper, 2 stacks of buttons, a stack of ribbon, and the blossom (which is made up of 5 punched out flowers stacked on top of one another and then crumpled to make one beautiful flower!). Wow Vicky, you rocked this challenge, thanks for the excellent example!!
See you back here tomorrow for a sketch...

Day 349 - A Good Sense of Direction

Don't worry, you don't have to have a good sense of direction to complete this challenge :)

But here is what you do need to have on your card:

Something that has to do with direction - think about words like here or there, North, South, East, and West. Or maybe use a symbol or two, like an arrow.

Sophie's card definitely meets the requirements for this challenge:

Arrows everywhere!! Nice work Sophie!
Hey, did I mention that I'm cleaning house over at the kit blog? Well, I've got to get rid of some old stuff to make room for some new stuff, so I've dropped prices in a big way. Hop on over and check it out HERE.
One more day and then we begin Seven Sketches Week!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Day 348 - Keep it Simple

Do you like to pile on the embellishments? Then this will definitely be a challenge, because I want you to keep it simple.

Here are the specifics:

Start out with blank cardstock, stamp an image in one color and DO NOT color it in. Add one embellishment that coincides with the image. You may add any sentiment you wish.

For example, if the image was a bouquet of flowers, then you would add a single blossom embellishment to the bunch.

Here is Amy's example:

Check out that darling image and here's a close-up of the little "hair clip".

Love it!

Sooooooooooo..........wanna know about the DT call? Pop over here ;)

Happy card making!!

Day 347 - White Space

Just a couple more days until I post details about the upcoming DT Call...

So today we have a white space challenge. That means that you've got to keep all decorations to the blacked out area on the card:

If you really want to stick to the sketch above, you can use a circle shape as Kristie did:

Kristie you sure packed a lot of detail into that small space, and it is all FABULOUS!
Just a few more days until we start Seven Sketches Week...
