Day 306 - Flashback Friday

Here we are on the very last day of 2010.  It worked out so beautifully for us to ring in the New Year by looking back at challenges from the past year.

Today's challenge is one that Sophie picked from January!  That's actually Day 312 from the previous 365 Cards year.  It was called Metal Mania, and required at least one piece of metal (in any shape or amount), to be used on a card.

So that's the challenge for today!

Here is Sophie's card:

So clean and beautiful - and there's that little metal frame I see :-)

Do you have plans to ring in the New Year?  If so, have a wonderful celebration and be safe!!

Day 305 - Flashback Thursday

Today we are looking back at Challenge Day 111 - Stunning Silhouette...with a twist.

The challenge is to use a silhouette on your card and create your card in only black and white.

Here's Hannah's card:

This is stunning indeed!!

If you don't have an image that already comes as a silhouette, all you have to do is cut around a stamped image on solid color paper (in this case black), then flip it over and you have one!

We're creeping closer to the new year, just a couple more days to go...

Day 304 - Flashback Wednesday

Today we're flashin' back to Day 209 - Keep it Simple: One image, a sentiment, one embellishment, and limit the amount of space you use on the card to about 1/3 of the entire space available.

Here is Kim's example:

Wow - gorgeous work with the coloring of the image Kim!  And this is so festive with New Year's Eve right around the corner!!

So flashback along with us and Keep it Simple for this challenge :-)

Day 303 - Flashback Tuesday

Before we share our flashback challenge, let's have some winners.

Congrats to Niili!!!

You've won a prize from Some Odd Girl!

Please email me here so we can get you all the details.

Several new participants this week, and a few are among the Spotlight Designers.  And here they are:

And here is your Weekly Challenge All-Star:

Shell H.

Way to go on getting all the challenges done!

For her flashback challenge, Audrey chose Day 20 "Let's Make Some Noise".   All you have to do is add something to your card that makes noise.  Audrey put a bell on her card:

And it's a beautiful card, too!

More flashback fun coming up tomorrow...

Day 302 - Flashback Monday

As we enter the final week of 2010, Gloria came up with a great idea.  All the designers, from Monday to Saturday are revisiting one challenge from this past year.  So Gloria is up first, and here's her challenge:

Day 18: Plentiful Patterns - Use at least 3 of the following patterns on your card - plaid, paisley, gingham, hounds tooth, toile

Of these options, Gloria chose toile, hounds tooth, paisley, and here's her card:

Gorgeous - and these patterns really work well together!

If you've just recently started playing along, then you'll have fun give this challenge a try for the first time.  If you've already done it, it'll be cool to see what new design you come up with.

There are lots of days to choose from - come back tomorrow to see which one Audrey chose...

Day 301 - Super Sketchy Sunday

And now we begin our final week of 2010!!!

I can't think of a better way than to share a sketch.  No sponsors this week, just lots of challenge fun before we dive into 2011.

So here's the sketch:

And the Super Sketchy Design Team Examples:

Wow - this one really inspired not only the usual gorgeous creations by the team, but such a great variation!

We've got a fun week of challenges coming up as we reflect on the last year here at 365 Cards, so stick around...

Day 300 - Peace, Comfort and Joy

To all our 365 Cards friends who are celebrating today, we wish you all a wonderful holiday.

No matter how you celebrate this Holiday Season, I think the general feeling we all seek is one of peace, comfort and joy, and so that is your challenge for today.  Create a card that conveys this.  You can use images and words, however you wish to send the message.

Heidi chose this image from Some Odd Girl and here is her card:

Such an adorable little penguin, and I think it really does send the "peace, comfort and joy" message!

Do you have anything scrappy on your wish list this year?  Maybe you'll find a little quiet time to craft.

Remember that you have until end of day Monday to link up those cards for a shot at a prize from Some Odd Girl.

We'll be back tomorrow with a sketch!

Day 299 - All Tied Up

For this challenge, we're looking for knots and bows, using string/twine/ribbon/yarn - basically anything you can tie into a know or bow.  And here is the specific challenge:

Create a minimum of FOUR knots or bows using at least two different types of tying materials.

Here is Sophie's card for the challenge:

Ahhhh, beautiful and perfect for the day, since it is Christmas Eve.

So get all tied up and have fun with the challenge!

Day 298 - Thinking in Threes

For this challenge, you need to select 3 decorative items and include 3 of each of those items on your card.

Hannah nailed this challenge with her card, check it out:

She's got 3 pieces of red ribbon, 3 blue brads and 3 pom pom balls.  And that is so cool how he's holding one of the pom pom "snowballs"!

So it's pretty straightforward - you just have to think in three's...

Day 297 - Think "Cute"

For some this may not be much of a challenge.  If you like to stamp with cute, sweet, and charming images or you find your self leaning towards adorable patterned paper, then it will be easy.  But if you don't normally get excited about this stuff, then it will definitely be a challenge!

It's all about creating the cutest little card you can come up with.  That's the challenge - are you up for it?

Kim embraced the challenge with this super duper sweet monkey image from Some Odd Girl:

Yep, "Cute" is definitely the word for it!  And a great sentiment to match the card :)

So anything goes as long as you pour on the cuteness!!

Day 296 - Imagine This: Mistletoe

Here's the random winner for a prize from Michelle's Scrapbooking and More...

Congrats to Dee!!!

Please email me here so we can make arrangements for you to receive your prize.

We had such fun looking through all the cards you submitted last week, and here are the Spotlight Designers who really impressed us with their fabulous creations:

You are all welcome to grab the Spotlight Designer badge (located over in the sidebar) for your blogs!

We've got some Weekly Challenge All-Stars to acknowledge.  Well done to:

Paula B., Doreen, and Heather A. Hudson

Thanks for sharing cards with us all week long!

To get into the spirit of things, I thought it would be fun to have an Imagine This challenge all about Mistletoe.  You don't have use mistletoe on your card - it just has to inspire some aspect of your card.

Audrey chose to use this Elf Kaylee image from Some Odd Girl on her card:

Just darling and oh so festive!

No need to make a Christmas card for the challenge, just get inspired by some mistletoe ;-)

By the way, if you're a recent prize winner who is expecting a package from me, not to worry - it's been on my to-do list, but with the busy holiday season it's one of many things on the list.  You can start stalking your mailboxes very soon...

Day 295 - Ad Inspired

I thought it was time for another Ad Inspired challenge, and Gloria selected a gorgeous ad for us:

And here's her card:

This definitely captures the gold and green tones from the ad, not to mention all those musical notes - beautiful!

Check out that image from Some Odd Girl - and don't forget to pop over to the shop for more great images to choose from...

Also, if you're on Facebook we'd love to have you join us over there - just search for 365 Cards, and request to join.

Day 294 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Welcome to Some Odd Girl Week!!!!

digital stamps

Some Odd Girl is the place to find fun and quirky digis that we know you will love! Some Odd Girl was inspired by two great friends who are such dolls! They took one of Kristy Dalman’s (SOG owner) pencil drawings and made it into red rubber and that act of generosity spiraled into what you see today. Kristy is a married FTWM of 2 who has a hubby who not only loves her deeply but supports Kristy’s crafting and her site as the IT guy. What more could a girl want? Kristy is an artist born who started out with pencils then acrylics and now scrapbooks and is a cardmaker. Kristy design things that she loves and hopes you have as much fun with her stamps as we do!  Some Odd Girl are delighted to be sponsoring this challenge today and please don't forget about our monthly freebies and SOG Points program, which you can check out on the Some Odd Girl main site.

We are thrilled to share cards with you all week long that feature digi images from Some Odd Girl!

So let's get started with the sketch:

And the wonderfully talented Design Team's examples:

Just a wonderful set of cards, Ladies!!
We promise to bring you another week of fun challenges, so stick around...

Day 293 - Feeling Scrappy

Ah, we've reached the end of another week, but not to worry - you still have until Monday night to get those cards linked up for this week's challenges!

So let's get to today's challenge.  It's called "Feeling Scrappy" because the idea is to dig out those scraps - no full sheets of paper for this one.  To meet the requirements of the challenge, use 7 scraps of paper on your card.

Use up those patterned papers that you love!  And you can mix-and-match solid color and patterned papers.

Let's see what Heidi did with the challenge:

Fantastic!  Such a beautiful and clever way to make use of those scraps!!

I'll be back tomorrow with a sketch and a new sponsor...

Friday, December 17, 2010

Day 292 - Festive Friday

Let's have a little party...on our cards, that is!

Here are the specifics on the challenge:

Think about things that you would find at a celebration and include those on your card.  Add at least 2 different images (can come from stamps, patterned paper, stickers, whatever) such as balloons, streamers, confetti, champagne, a banner, etc. and include an appropriate sentiment.

Sophie created a wonderful example for the challenge:

A fabulous card to celebrate the coming year!

So put those party caps on and starting scrapping...

Day 291 - Detachable Ornament

Here's a fun one - 'tis the season for ornaments to be hanging on trees everywhere...

However, an ornament is simply a decoration to be hung and enjoyed for its beauty.  So whether or not you celebrate Christmas, you can enjoy this one!

All you have to do is create a detachable ornament for your card.  It can be all the decoration or part of the decoration on your card, as long as it's included in your card.

Hannah's is absolutely gorgeous, check it out:

The white and gold is such a lovely combination.

I definitely need to head over to Hannah's blog and get the details on this one!!

I can't wait to see what you all come up with for this one :-)

Day 290 - Touchy Feely

Touchy Feely - Let's see texture 3 ways: Embossing (dry or wet), Glitter or Flocking, Fabric or Lace - so you can choose one from each of the 3 groups to meet the requirements of the challenge.

For this challenge, we want to see texture 3 different ways.  You can choose one item from each group so that when you're done, you will have added texture to your card 3 ways:

1) Dry Embossing or Wet Embossing
2) Glitter or Flocking
3) Fabric or Lace

Here is Kim's example:

Instead of real lace, Kim got creative and used a lace border punch.  Can you tell what else she used?  Hmmm, you might just have to visit her blog for all the details ;-)

I've now updated yesterday's post with the winners from last week, and I'm happy to report that 365 Cards has its very own group on Facebook.  Unfortunately (due to the new format), you have to request to join the group, but I will happily approve you!  So just look up 365 Cards and you can join in the fun there as well!

Day 289 - Peek-a-Boo

Thanks for your patience on the delay of this post...

Here is our winner from E.A.D. Designs week -

Congrats to Nessy!!!!

Please email me here, and we can make the arrangements for you to receive your prize!

Here are your Spotlight Designers from last week's challenges:

Thank you all for sharing these wonderful cards with us!

We may have had a quiet week around here last week, but these two card makers stuck with the challenges everyday, and should be applauded:

Linda B. and Heather A. Hudson

Well done!!
Now on to today's challenge:
So the challenge is to create 2 windows on your card - they can be of any shape or size, as long as you can see something on the inside peeking out.  Perhaps it will be patterned paper or a stamped image that you can see.  Whatever you decide will work as long as you have 2 windows!

Here is Audrey's card:

And here is the inside:

Wow, this totally works with the snowflakes peeking out and that lovely sentiment both on the front and the inside of the card!

More scrappy challenges coming right up...

Day 288 - Fun with Fonts

Let's play around with some different fonts, shall we?

Here's the specific challenge:

Use at least 3 different fonts in your sentiment.  You can do computer-generated, alpha stamps or stickers, or mix-and-match sentiment stamps.  Anything you can think of as long as you come up with 3 different fonts.

Gloria's is entirely computer-generated, and fabulous, check it out:

And here's a close-up shot:

Oh, this really puts me in the Christmas spirit!  I just love it, Gloria :)

If you're busy during the Holidays, as so many of us are, I hope you are finding some quiet time to craft, and we're sure glad that you're taking a moment to get inspired by 365 Cards!

More challenge fun coming up tomorrow...

Have a great week!!

Day 286 - Twinchie Fun

Have you seen those cute little "twinchies" around blogland?  You know, those cute little 2x2 handmade creations?  They are perfect for putting on cards, in fact, I do believe we had a challenge several months ago to make a twinchie.  And since we don't want to duplicate the challenge, let's try SIX twinchies!

I know, it doesn't leave room for much else, but since you can decorate these cute little guys any way you want, then it should be too challenging.

Check out what Heidi did with the challenge:

Just wonderful - love those colors!

It has been such fun incorporating the stickers from E.A.D. Designs on our cards - thanks so much to this fabulous company!!

Tomorrow we'll be back with a sketch...

Friday, December 10, 2010

Day 285 - Super Six

For this challenge, you'll start with your blank card and add six - and ONLY six - items to your card.  They can be anything you wish, and the sentiment counts as one of your six things.

Here is Sophie's card:

"EEK - I love this card!!"  The green and brown combo totally works and that elephant from E.A.D. Designs is the cutest!

So the challenge is straightforward, but is it easy??

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Day 284 - Pretty Pockets

Well, I don't suppose they have to be pretty, but you need to have 2 of them and here are the specifics of the challenge:

Create 2 pockets on your card.  You can do this in the card, on the front, the card can be a pocket - It's up to you how you go about this, as long as there are 2 pockets.

Are you ready to see Hannah's super sweet creation?

Well, here it is:

This is absolutely charming, Hannah!!  The fruit peeking out of the pockets is so clever.

There are so many types of "pockets", and they come in all shapes and sizes, so have fun and let's see what you create...

Day 283 - White Space

Come on, you know you love a good white space challenge!  Well, either way, that's the challenge for today, so here's the sketch:

Yep, it's a tough one, but don't feel like you have to create circle shapes in the corner - just think of it as a suggestion, lol!  But of course, with all white space challenges, that's where you want to keep the decoration.

Now, if you've been hanging out with us for a while, then you know Kim embraces challenges like this with some serious creativity.  So of course she has knocked this one out of the park.

First a shot of the outside:

Really, you probably don't need to see more to get the idea of how clever this is, but I simply must share it with you anyway, so here's what's under the flap:

And to finish, here's the inside with sentiment:

I think if I wasn't inspired at the beginning of the post, I sure would be at the end - that is one terrific example, Kim!!

So however you decide to do the challenge, make sure you keep plenty of blank space on your card...
