Day 61 - I've Been Framed

Are we at the end of the week already?

Then I guess it's time for a Saturday challenge with a card from DoBea!

Here are the specifics

Use a stamped (rubber or digi) image of a frame somewhere on your card.

That's it!  Now it's just a matter of how to incorporate that stamped frame in your card design.

Here's how DoBea did it

I love the natural look of this card - especially that background pattern!

Have you enjoyed all the digi images from Shannon's Sentiments?  If you play along this week, you just might might get some of your own :-)

We'll be back tomorrow with a sketch and a new sponsor...

Day 60 - Sparkle and Shine

Great news!  I have finally updated the Tuesday's post to include the winners from last week, and you can find that post here.

Today's challenge requires a glittery background.  You can used glitter paper or add it to the background yourself as long as it has that "sparkle and shine"

Here is Jennifer's card complete with a bold and beautiful color scheme

As challenges go, it might not be too tough, but we'll just see when you link up your cards ;-)

Day 59 - Feeling "Kraft"y

Always popular, I see kraft paper everywhere popping up in cards and other paper projects.

So it's time for us to have a challenge that incorporates kraft paper as one of the requirements.  Since it has such a natural look, let's go with a nature theme as well.

Here's Hannah's beautiful card

I sure do love that "all natural" look and there's just something about kraft paper that I like everytime I see it used in a card.

So get to it and make a card that is kraft-y!

Day 58 - Subliminal Messages

You know how when you go to the movie theater they flash yummy looking images of popcorn, soda and candy all over the screen?  You'd think they were sending subliminal messages.  Your challenge is to use an image of food or beverage that looks good enough to eat/drink.  It should be large and the focal point of the card.

Kim's card makes me want to jump in the car and head straight for the movie theater

Yum!  Popcorn is definitely my snack of choice and I am lovin' the bold colors!!

So let's see what sort of "subliminal" message you can send with your card.

Day 57 - Say it with Subtlety

We have a winner from Digital Delights by Louby Loo Week

Congrats to Cheryl!!!

Please contact me here to claim your prize.

Here are our seven Spotlight Designers

And of course we need to celebrate our Weekly Challenge All-Stars

Paula Bee
Mark Angel
Granny Goodwitch
Way to go to all of you, and thanks for your patience with me as I dealt with a difficult week!
Audrey made a beautiful card for today's challenge, and I want to share it with you, so here are the specifics of the challenge:

The idea is to create a card that you could give to pretty much anyone you know (male/female, co-workers, family members, friends), so it can't be too personal and it can't be gender-specific -- but of course there's a catch.  It must have a sentiment on it, and it cannot be a thank you note.  Otherwise it can be of any theme.

It's one of those "easier said than done" kinds of challenges, but I have no doubt that it can be done well, as we can see with Audrey's card

Nicely done!  And it definitely works for anyone :-)

Have fun with the challenge!

Day 56 - Big Announcement

Sometimes you have exciting news to share, and you just have to do it in a big, big way.

That's what this challenge is about - just sayin' it right there on the front of your card.

Heidi kept it clean and simple for this big announcement

Without a specific message, this is the kind of card you can leave blank on the inside ready for whatever big news lies ahead!

I am really enjoying seeing what the DT is doing with the digi images from Shannon's Sentiments, and there's more great stuff ahead...

Day 54 - Make a Card for "Some-Bunny"

They're everywhere, those little bunnies, aren't they?

Easter is right around the corner, and whether or not you celebrate, I'll bet you've seen your fair share on the internet, in stores, and half a dozen other places, am I right?

Well, I'm thinking that it's time to join in the fun here at 365 Cards.

Make this one "bunny" inspired.

You can use a bunny, or words or images associated with bunnies -- maybe even a giant carrot!

DoBea has a great big adorable bunny (digi image courtesy of Digital Delights) right on the front

Beautiful!  And something about that image just makes me smile :-)

Now it's your turn.  Make a card, and let some-bunny know you care...

Day 53 - Ad Inspired

Today Jennifer gets the opportunity to choose an ad to inspire us!!

And here is the one she selected

Can you guess where this ad came from?  It's from Victoria's Secret, but those look like yummy delicious cupcakes, and I do believe that is what inspired Jennifer's card

That adorable little chef makes an appearance again on this super sweet card!

So what is it about the ad that grabs you?  Let's see how it inspires your card...

Day 52 - Spring Cleaning

I just love the phrase "Spring Cleaning" -- no really, I do!  It makes me think of open windows with fresh breezes moving through my house.  In fact, I am doing some serious cleaning in my scrap room.

As I get organized, I keep coming across scraps of patterned paper that I love and thought I had used up.  I'm also finding embellies, tools, and other things I forgot I had in my stash.  So that got me thinking, maybe it's time for another challenge where we're forced to dig through our stashes and make good use of some things we've had for a while.

So here are the specifics of items to include in your card for this challenge:

1) 2 pieces of patterned paper you've had for at least a year.
2) Something - anything - that you've had for as long as you've been scrapping (this can even be a tool)
3) Ribbon that you've had for at least 2 years (or as close to 2 years as possible)

See how close you come to meeting tese requirements, and you might be as surprised as I was to find the things in my stash that I did.

Here's what Hannah did with the challenge:

Hannah says that the blue and purple patterned papers she used were "ancient" (thus meeting that requirement, lol!).  She used a circle cutter and a circle punch that she's owned since she began crafting, and the blue and purple ribbons are at least two years old.  Well done, Hannah!

So, dig around in your stash and get some scrappy Spring cleaning done!!

Mark Angel

Heather A. Hudson

Woot Woot - nice work!!

Today's challenge is to use the very Springy 365 Cards blog header as inspiration.  You just need to take a good look at it and then create a card.

Audrey says she was inspired by the rainbow, but she didn't just use a rainbow on her card, she created one in the background that is oh so cool, check it out

I think this has to be one of my all-time favorite cards from Audrey - the colors are so vibrant and it's just so beautifully put together!!

And don't you just adore that super sweet chef image from Digital Delights by Louby Loo?  I know I do - and if you want to see more fun and fabulous digi stamps from this company, just pop over to the shop.  Then come on back tomorrow for another challenge...

Day 49 - Opposites Attract

Do you find that you have two colors that you just DO NOT use together?  They don't even have to clash, but maybe you've found that those are just two colors you don't like to use at the same time.  Well now you have to use them for this challenge.  And they must be the dominant colors on the card.

Heidi chose 2 color combos for this one; the primary one is purple/red, and then she threw in a white/ivory combo.

I think this card is absolutely stunning, and the way Heidi combined the colors really works on the card.

Challenges like this are great for pushing you out of your comfort zone, and they might leave you pleasantly surprised at the results...

So yesterday we brought you a challenge to create an accordion card, which I've also seen referred to as a "stair step" card.

Today we take it a step further to challenge you to create a double stair step card.  This one is pretty cool, and Kim has a great example:

I love the little Easter scene depicted here!  And the design is so clever :-)

Day 40 - Clever Coloring

This one's all about finding different ways to color an image and getting creative with it.

Here are the specific details of the challenge:

Use 4 different methods for adding color to one image - pens, markers, paint, glitter, flocking, patterned paper are a few ideas.

You can do whatever you want to color in the image, as long as you incorporate 4 different methods.

Here's DoBea's card

Hmmm....I see some glitter on the clouds, and maybe some flocking on the rainbow.  What else is there??  Well, for all the details, head on over to DoBea's blog...

Tomorrow we're back with a new sponsor and a sketch!

Friday, April 8, 2011

Day 39 - Inspired by the Sponsor

Our sponsor all week long has been Heartsong Designs.  Not only does the company have beautiful images to work with, but it also has a beautiful name.  I thought that the name itself would likely inspire a great card design, so that's how this challenge was born.

Use the sponsor's name to inspire your card.

Jennifer created this Springy card for the challenge:

Isn't that lovely?  And it sure makes me excited about Spring!!  You can find out just why this card makes Jennifer's heart sing by visiting her blog for all the details.

So what makes your heart sing??  Let's see it on your card...

Day 38 - Just a Touch

This is a great challenge, but a little hard to describe without sounding confusing...

Using a stamped image (can be stamped or digi) color only 2 parts of the image using two different colors.    You can use any method you can think of to add color (marker, pen, paper piecing, etc.).

Thankfully, Hannah's card beautifully depicts what we're looking for:

On the elephant's cheeks you'll see some pink, and the baby's blanket is blue.  The color is understated, and yet the image stands out perfectly!

Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for lots of colors, patterns, etc. on an image, but sometimes a little bit goes a long way.  And that is what we want to see on your cards.

It can be challenging, as Hannah discovered, trying to decided which two parts should get the color, but once you settle on them you might find that all the image needed was just a little touch of color.

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Day 37 - Pure Contentment

I'm curious, how would you depict those words on your card?  Use an image that represents "pure contentment".

Kim used this lovely image from Heartsong Designs, and I think it definitely does the job:

And the card itself is soooo elegant!!

Well, I'm back in my own time zone and it sure feels good to be home.  I'm feeling quite content myself ;-)

Gorgeous card!!  And that is such a wonderful image from Heartsong Designs :-)

So take those colors and let's see how you can incorporate them into your card design...
