Day 92 - My Favorite Thing

Did you wonder if I would ever post today??  I had a very busy long weekend and now it's back to business :-)

So let's get started with the winner of the prize from Sparkle Creations

Congrats to Erica J-W!!!

Please contact me here to claim your prize.

Here are your Spotlight Designers, including a card from the sponsor herself.  The card was so fabulous, I just had to add Sparkle to the group!

Today's challenge is to imagine your favorite flavor of ice cream and use it to inspire your card.

Audrey's favorite is mint chocolate chip (yum!), so she used green and brown shades on her card, check it out

Beautiful card!

So what's your favorite flavor?  Whatever it is, let's see how it inspires your card...

Day 91 - Color Scheming

Today's challenge may seem simple, but check out this color combo.

They may not be your first pick, but I'm sure you can come up with something fun using these 3 colors as the main color scheme.

Here's Heidi's take on today's challenge:

It can be done!

Link up your card and let us see what beauty can come out of even an unusual color scheme.

Day 90 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Day 89 - Saturday Prompt

Ready for the last word challenge of the week??

Here's your word...

Light

This one definitely has tons of possibilities!

Here is how DoBea was inspired by the word

This is one of my favorite design techniques, giving just one little element of the stamp some color to really make it pop out!

Here's a close-up of that little light

Great example!!

So if you've been playing along all week, or even just on a single challenge, you've given yourself up to 7 chances to win a prize from Sparkle Creations.  And just what is that prize?  How about a $20 Gift Certificate to Sparkle's shop?  Such a great prize, and you're sure to find something you like.

If you are still working on challenges from this past week, you have until Monday to link those cards up...

Day 88 - Friday Prompt

Yay the weekend has arrived!

I don't know about you, but I really need a weekend break from my hectic weekday schedule.  I'm also hoping for some good weather so I can go outside and play.  I'd like some sunshine and a warm breeze.  And speaking of breezes, let's get to the word of the day...

BREEZY

And Jennifer captured that word perfectly on her card

Fab background paper to go with this image!  Ahhh - wouldn't it be nice to drive around with the top down on the car?

So what does the word 'breezy' mean to you and how will you depict it on your card?

Day 87 - Thursday Prompt

Hey 365ers, it's time for another word to get those creative juices flowing.

Up today with her card is Hannah, and the word is....

Cool

And here's the card

Ahhhh, that looks utterly blissful, doesn't it?  I love all those shades of orange!!

So stay cool, be cool, cool off, whatever you want to do with it, as long as something about your card is motivated by the word 'cool'.

Day 86 - Wednesday Prompt

Ready for the word of the day?

It is............Steam!

And Kim's card is an excellent example

Isn't that gorgeous?  And the background swirls totally look like steam!!

At first thought, you might go the same direction, but there are lots of possibilities for this one...

Linda B.

And now for your Tuesday prompt...

Hat

And here's what Audrey did with the challenge

Love that adorable chef and this gorgeous color scheme!

By the way, I want to apologize for leaving so few comments on your cards this past week.  For some reason my comments in Blogger wouldn't post, even though I tried several times.  I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your cards and creativity despite the inability to leave comments.

Day 84 - Monday Prompt

Okay, that's a weird sounding challenge right?  Well, what it means is that all week long I'm going to throw a word atcha, and you have to just roll with it.  We want to see what you come up with when we give you a random word.

So up today is Heidi with her card and the word of the day is

RUFFLES

And here's what Heidi came up with

Oh yes, there are some ruffles right there on that fabulous image from Sparkle Creations!  Nice work coloring in that image, Heidi :-)

So take that word and run with your creativity straight to your scrappy place and see what you come up with...

Day 82 - Caught in a Corner

So you know all that fabulous 12x12 paper that is perfect for scrapbooking, but not always for cardmaking?  Well, I disagree - I think that whether it has large patterns/images or fancy edges, it can still make a beautiful addition to a card.

And that's my challenge for you today - use patterned paper that is intended for a scrapbook layout, and cut a piece down to fit a card.  That's where the title of the challenge comes from - just cutting out a little corner of it - but you can use any piece you want.

Here's DoBea's example

Wow, that's gorgeous paper, and I love how it looks with this darling image!

And here's a peek at the sentiment on the inside of the card

And that completes the challenges for DRS Designs Week.  But never fear, because you still have until Monday night to link up those cards.

Tomorrow we'll be back with a sketch and a new sponsor...

Day 81 - Asymmetry

This challenge is all about making things asymmetrical.  I don't know about you, but I often strive to keep things clean and organized on my card, even if it's loaded up with patterned papers and embellies.  If you like to load up the card in a random way, or use card designs that are anything but symmetrical, then this is the not-so-challenging challenge for you!

Jennifer went with a very cool asymmetrical card design, check it out

I love this, and it totally fits the challenge.

Whether you cut the card in a fun and crazy way, or load up the card with random embellishments, just make sure it is totally asymmetrical!

Day 80 - Cute Cuts

Okay - so you know those cute little cut out letters that you see around the crafting world - especially in scrapbooking layouts?  Well, I'm thinking that we need to see them on some cards.  If you've already done this, you know what I'm talking about, and if you haven't (and/or you don't know what I'm talking about), then take a look at Hannah's card.

All you need to do is take some stamped, handwritten, computer generated, etc. (whatever method you can think of) letters and cut them out individually as part of your sentiment, as Hannah has done above.

It doesn't count to stamp them right on the card or use sticker alphas - it's definitely a "do-it-yourself" kind of thing.

And here's a look at Hannah's whole card

Yum - works for me!

I think this is such a great technique to incorporate in the sentiment, especially since you can create them to perfectly fit your card design.

Day 79 - Fabulous Fringe

And we have some winners...

First up, congrats to Dale T!!!!

Email me here to claim your prize from Whimsie Doodles Week.

Next up we've got some Spotlight Designers who really rocked the week of sketches

Well done!  If this is your first time in the spotlight, feel free to grab a badge from the sidebar.

And finally, let's recognize that fab group of Weekly Challenge All-Stars

Mark Angel
Granny Goodwitch
Linda B.
Crafty Ria
Johanna
Studio Sara

Nice job tackling all of those sketches!!

Now on to today's challenge...

Have you ever created fringe using ribbon?  If not, this is your opportunity.  And all you have to do is grab some beautiful ribbon and a pair of scissors to create Do-it-Yourself fringe.

Here's Kim's card

Gorgeous - and I love how the fringe looks like grass!

Now it's your turn to create some "fabulous fringe" and add it to your card...

Day 78 - Pretty in Pink-ing

Hey Everyone!

Just a reminder that we'll be sharing winners tomorrow instead of today, since we had that slight setback last week with Blogger.  That also means you have the rest of today to complete any challenges you want from last week in order to qualify for the Spotlight Designers, Weekly Challenge All-Stars, and a prize from the sponsor.

Today's challenge is make use of that cool look created by pinking shears.  If you have scissors that do this, that works great.  Otherwise, you can use a pre-cut decorative item that has the same style of edging.

Here's Audrey's example

Wow, that is one yummy delicious-looking piece of cake!

And here's a close-up of the "pinked" look

That is really cool - it's sort of a variation on the original!

Even if you don't have scissors that create this look, there are others ways to accomplish it, so you might have to think outside the box on this one...

Day 77 - White Space

Good Morning, 365ers!!  Is it Monday already?  I don't generally mind Mondays, but I'm afraid this one came too fast for me.

This challenge is all about keeping some white space on your card.  Heidi's up today with her interpretation of a White Space sketch

And here's Heidi's Clean and Simply beauty

Simply elegant!

So keep all your decorations to the blacked out areas and you'll meet the requirements of the challenge...

Day 75 - Saturday Sketch

Whew - it's great to have Blogger back up and running, and fortunately it wasn't down too terribly long.

So let's get to our final sketch of the week, shall we?

And here it is

DoBea really made the most out of this Whimsie Doodles image

Who ever thought a little flame could be so cute?  Well, it certainly is in this case.

Have you had fun playing along with the sketches this week?  Remember you've got an extra day to get those cards linked up, so have fun with as many sketches as you want.

We'll be back tomorrow with our regularly scheduled sketch and a new sponsor...

Day 74 - Friday Sketch

Yay, Blogger is working again!  I'm sorry to those who eagerly checked in this morning only to find no sketch ready to go.  On the bright side I was able to share the sketch over on our group page on Facebook.

And now it's time to share it here...

And here is Jennifer's card

Love that black, red and white color combo!

By the way, since we lost so many hours before I could post this, I will give you an extra day to link up those cards.  For this week's challenges, you'll have until 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, May 18th to post your links.

Happy crafting!
