Day 152 - Saturday Background

Ready for our last background challenge for the week?

This one requires you to add paint to the background.  You can do this any way you want and in any amount.

And up today with her take on the challenge is Manoli, stepping in for DoBea

Absolutely stunning!!

Very creative and it really works with the overall look of the card.

So go ahead and add paint in any manner to your background and decorate the foreground any way you want...

Day 151 - Friday Background

Today's challenge is all about creating layers in your background.

Specifically, you need to have a minimum of 3 layers on your card, and exactly how you do this is up to you.

Day 149 - Wednesday Background Challenge

Good Morning and welcome back for another background challenge!

Today Kim is up with her take on this challenge

Divide the background into 4 parts - 2/4 must be solid color and 2/4 must have a pattern.  The colors and patterns to not have to be the same on each part.

This is absolutely stunning!!

So it sounds complicated and seems that you have to be great at fractions when you first read the challenge.  But as you can see from Kim's example it can be done simply and beautifully.

Here are your Spotlight Designers from last week

A big shout out to Yvonne and Mark A. who are not only our Weekly Challenge All-Stars, but also the only two participants who took on last week's Saturday challenge - woot woot!!

And I'm up with a card today while Audrey is on vacation.  The background challenge is to stamp your sentiment (or even just part of the sentiment) all over the background.  You can decorate the foreground anyway you want.

Here's my card

After I stamped that background, I decided I didn't want to cover any of it up since I liked the way it looked when I was done.  So I popped a button right next to the dark bluish green sentiment and called it done.

However, I decided that I wanted that one "thank you" to stand out even more, so I pulled out my glitter pen and traced over the letters to really make them shine.  Here's a close-up that might help you see it better.

And that's the challenge - there's a lot of flexibility on this as long as you stamp some words all over the background...

Day 147 - Monday Background Challenge

So here's what we've got going on this week...

We'll be focusing on backgrounds and I'll post challenges about decorating the background to your cards all week long.

Today, the background challenge is half-and-half; specifically 1/2 polka dots and 1/2 solid background.  However you choose to decorate the rest of the card is up to you.

So the challenge is nice and simple, just fill half the background with polka dots and the other half with solid paper, otherwise anything goes...

Day 145 - Dress it Up

Today's challenge is to take an image - whether stamped or digi - and dress it up 3 ways.  As for the rest of the card, anything goes.

Today I'm sharing another card with you while DoBea is on vacation.  Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, but here's what I came up with

I took the umbrella from a Digi Darla image and dressed it up with white fringe, a rhinestone at the top, and although it doesn't really show up, I traced the black lines with a glitter pen (trust me, it looks great in person, lol!).

Day 144 - So Random

Are you the kind of card maker who needs an occasion in order to make a card (I know I generally am!), or do you like to make cards that may not suit any particular event?

If you tend to lean more towards the latter, then this one is for you!

The idea is to create a card that is absolutely random - no particular occasion, no thank yous or birthday cards.  Maybe it's silly or maybe it's serious, but one thing it must absolutely have is a sentiment.

Here is Jennifer's card for the challenge

Love the bold bright colors, and the card along with its sentiment definitely fits the theme of the challenge.

Sometimes it's fun to create without needing to, and this is one of those times to let that creativity loose!

Day 143 - Having a Heat Wave

Okay, I'm dreaming a little bit here, because where I live we're not having one at all!

So that's the theme of this challenge....HEAT WAVE!

And, lucky me because I get to share a card with you while Hannah is on vacation

I loved these sunglasses from Digi Darla!

Are you having a heat wave or wish you were?  Either way, let that theme inspire your card.

Day 142 - Imagine This: Earth

Here's a challenge that has all sorts of possibilities.  It's an Imagine This challenge, which gives you the freedom to creative a card based on what that image makes you think of.  You might use colors, words, or the image of the things itself.  In this case, the image is the Earth.

Such a beautiful mix of land and water! 

Whatever you think of when you think of earth, whether it be the land you walk on or the entire planet, let that inspire your card...

This challenge is all about giving dimension to an image.

Whether stamped or digi raise up two different parts of the image off the page.

Day 133 - Monday Collage Card

So I had this idea that it would be a lot of fun to create a week of challenges that are based around the idea of a "collage" card.  The concept is wide open to interpretation, but I think of lots of layers, filling up the card with as much decoration as you can - though it doesn't have to be cluttered - and mixing and matching lots of beautiful things.

But of course we can't just call it Collage Card Week, and leave it at that.  Each day I will offer up 3 items/techniques to include on your card - otherwise anything goes.
