Day 245 - All Smiles

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone can use a smile, right?

So let's see a big one on your card.  Not much of a challenge, maybe, but I was looking for an opportunity to share a smile with all of our friends at 365 Cards, and this is it :-)

Here's Annie's smile for you

And that precious little lamb is an image from Robyn's Fetish -- love it!!

So please take a moment to share a smile with us this week, and link it up right here...

Day 243 - Imagine This: Starry Skies

What do Starry Skies make you think of?  Shooting stars, nursery rhymes about a cow jumping over the moon, or maybe a campout?

Whatever it is, you need to show it on your card.

DoBea thought of a rocket it ship, and here's what it looks like

Fabulous background paper to go with the rocket ship!

Shall I say it??  On this challenge the "sky's the limit" as long as it fits the challenge, lol...

Day 242 - Technologically Advanced

I don't know if it's true of all of us, but it seems that these days we are getting exposure to the latest advances in technology everywhere we go!

So let's embrace it by incorporating it into our cards.

Jennifer's example certainly fits the challenge

Who would have thought that a robot could be so adorable?  But these guys sure are cute!

You can do this one any way you want as long as it fits the challenge...

Day 240 - White Space

Here's a White Space challenge for ya

And Kim's example

Kim's getting rebellious - she tipped it on its side!  And it looks great :-)

So here's how this White Space thing goes -

Keep the decorations to the blacked out areas and keep the white areas free of decoration, and then link it up here...

Day 239 - Celebrating the Everyday

Let's get started with our Spotlight Designers from last week's challenges...

Fabulous cards!!

And let's see who made the Weekly Challenge All-Stars

Ivonne Santiago
Gina S.
Mark Angel

Nice job completing all those challenges!

By the way, I've struggled with Blogger when it comes to commenting on some of the cards.  It depends on the format of the comment box, but it tells me that I don't have permission and that I will have to log in with a different email address.  If anyone has a solution, please let me know.  I just want you to know that I've tried commenting (some work, so don't) on lots of cards and I'm not dissing you I promise!!

So today's challenge is all about celebrating cards with everyday sorts of sentiments and themes.  It sounds easy at first, but you need to avoid specific occasions, including a Thank You, Missing You, Get Well, Birthdays, Holidays, etc.

It needs to be something you would send for an "everyday" purpose.

Here's what Audrey came up with

Perfect - it can fit any occasion, nothing specific.  The images are suitable for this purpose, as well.  No birthday cakes and candles, no poinsettias -- nothing obvious.  Whew, that is a tough one, isn't it?  Well done, Audrey!

How will you complete the challenge?

Day 238 - Embellished Bow

Bows on cards are truly beautiful, so let's make them really stand out.  Find two ways to embellish your bow any way you'd like.

Annie incorporated her bow with an ornament and the result is lovely

So give your bow that extra something special and make it really stand out on your card...

Day 237 - Super Sketchy Sunday

We've got a great Sketch Day for you today, and not so much because of the sketch itself, but because of the cards that it inspired the Design Team to make!  Here's the sketch I'm talking about

And here are the Design Team interpretations

See what I mean??  Amazing - and all so different!

I can't wait to see all the cards that are linked up for this one, so let's get started...

Day 236 - Evens and Odds

Hey 365 Cards Fans!

It's been a busy day for me -- one I've come to affectionately refer to as Soccer Saturday.  I have a break between sporting events to bring you this challenge and my card to go along with.

Here's the challenge:

You need to have an even number of embellishments and an odd number of embellishments on your card.  The sentiment does not count as either, so you can choose to add that however you wish.

And here's my example

I've got three different patterned papers -- some Basic Grey Halloween-themed paper.  I counted the purple floss as one of my embellishments and the pumpkin charm as the other.

You can have as much patterned paper and as many embellishments as you want, as long as you stick to the rule of evens and odds in this challenge.

Day 235 - Seeing Spots

I just adore polka dotted paper, so I wanted to have a challenge that celebrates this style of patterned paper.

So here's what we're looking for...

Three different papers that feature polka dots

Simple as that.  And here's Jennifer's card

Wonderful mix of papers - they blend beautifully together!

And you can have more than 3 papers, but you must have at least 3...

Day 234 - Opposite Day

Good Morning, 365ers!  I've got two challenges rolled into one today...

First think about how you would describe yourself - all the different aspects of your personality.

Second, use that description to create a card that is the OPPOSITE of how you would describe yourself.

Hannah thinks of herself as mellow, and someone who like to keep things simple.  So she used a busy pattern and not-so-clean lines on her card.

This is fantastic - I think Hannah did a beautiful job capturing the "opposite" of how she would describe herself.

So you must tackle the first challenge in order to move on to the next one...

Day 233 - Simply Stamped

Some the loveliest cards I've seen have had very little decoration, but are primarily stamped.  I don't know about you, but I get nervous when I just do stamping on my card because I fear even the slightest imperfection will be glaring.  This is a good opportunity to practice some clean and simple stamping.

So here's the challenge

Use only three stamps, plus one other embellishment (this part is optional) to design your card.  Your sentiment can be an additional stamp if you wish.

Here is Kim's example

Gorgeous!  I love the way that bold pink stands out against the green background.

How do you feel about stamping?  Keep it to just three stamps, CAS style and share with us what you came up with....

Day 232 - Color Scheme

Before I share the challenge for today, let's take a look at last week's Spotlight Designers

I have to say that my favorite day was the Sunday sketch -- so many wonderful cards, it was hard to choose.  Even with the sketch that really screamed TREES, you all managed to create very different card designs.

We have just one Weekly Challenge All-Star

Well done

Mark A.

Mark managed to complete all the challenges yet again!! (Insert a big round of applause here).

So if you're a fan of ours on Facebook, then you already knew that we've got a color scheme challenge today.  AND you also know the colors.

And here they are

Audrey always creates stunning cards for the color scheme challenges, and this card is no exception

Love that patterned paper in the background.

So what springs to mind when you glance at that color scheme?  Let's see it in your card...

Day 231 - Staple It

It's an everyday tool that can be used for a creative project -- in this case for decorating a card.  I'm talking about a stapler, and you need to use it for your card on this challenge.

I'm up today with my take on the challenge, and here's my card

That's a hand-cut heart that I stuffed and stapled.  And then I threw some staples in the patterned paper at the bottom of the card.

Any old staple will do, and you need to add some to your card, and see if you can do it in a decorative way...

Day 230 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Ready for a sketch??  Here is comes

And the Design Team really rocked out this sketch

Great work, Ladies!!

This really sets us up nicely for a great week of creativity...

Day 229 - So Sophisticated

Sometimes we use the words beautiful, elegant, gorgeous, and pretty to describe a card.  But my question for you today is

"What does Sophisticated look like?"

And that's what needs to guide the design of your card.

Here's DoBea's super sophisticated example

Yep, that pretty much demonstrates sophistication - well done, DoBea!

And that finishes the challenges for the week.  We'll be back here tomorrow to start a brand new week with a sketch....

Friday, October 14, 2011

Day 228 - Absolutely Fabulous

I love that word "Fabulous" and I sure do use it a lot.  And now you can use it, too...on your cards, that is!

So that's it, that's the challenge - use the word "fabulous" as part of your sentiment.

And Jennifer used it in a, well, fabulous way, check it out

What a great sentiment, and a beautiful card, too!

What else can I say?  Now it's your turn...

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Day 227 - Fun With Floss

I've been seeing these things all over the place and they look so cool on cards.  What am I talking about??

Shapes decorated with floss!

If you don't know what I mean, check out Hannah's card

Wow, that is soooo cool!  And if you don't have floss you can use twine, yarn or string.  The idea is to just not simply wrap it around your card but to make it more the focal point of your card but decorating a shape with it.

Give it a try and see what you think...

Day 226 - Ad Inspired

Today we've got an An Inspired challenge for you courtesy of Kim

Gorgeous ad, perfect for both Breast Cancer Awareness month and Halloween!

Here's Kim's beautiful card

Wow, it's absolutely stunning!

So you know how it's done...take the ad that Kim selected above and create your own inspired card...

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Day 225 - Stencil It

Wow, we've got some gorgeous and creative cards to feature from our Spotlight Designers

Stunning work, Everyone!!

And we have a small, but distinguished group of Weekly Challenge All-Stars

Mark A.

Nice job not only getting all those challenges done, but also producing wonderful creations!

And now for today's challenge...

Take those fabulous punches and turn one or several into a stencil to decorate your card.

Here's how Audrey did it

She created a butterfly stencil and it sure looks great with that gorgeous background!

Just another way to make the most of a scrappy item you already own.  So grab those punches and start stenciling...

Monday, October 10, 2011

Day 224 - Paint, Mists, and Glitter, Oh My!

Are you the kind of crafter who likes to get messy with paints and such?  If so, this is the challenge for you!

You need to use at least two of the following

Paint, Mists, Glitter

on your card.

Otherwise, anything goes.

Here's Annie's fun and fabulous example

Really artistic and I love that sentiment!

Time to break out those paints, mists, and/or glitter and get messy...

Day 223 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Here's a sketch coming atcha

And some gorgeous Design Team examples

Hmmm, I wonder why there are several "tree" cards, lol??

And Erin has two very different and creative cards to inspire you!

Have fun with the sketch and we'll meet you back here tomorrow for another challenge...
