Day 92 - Wear and Tear

For this challenge, we're looking for some wear and tear on your cards...
Use some sanding (or some similar form of distressing on your card) and then include some tearing.

Here's Michelle's example

Beautiful placement of elements on this card and fabulous paper from Heidi Stock Design!

You don't need fancy tools for this challenge, just some ways to create a little wear and tear...

Day 91 - Imagine This: Wood

Here's a nice little Imagine This challenge. Think "Wood", and design a card however this inspires you.
Erin created a card for us this week using the perfect paper from Heidi Stock Design

Beautifully simple color scheme, and a wonderful sentiment. And it certainly fits the theme.
So how will the word "wood" inspire your card? I can't wait to see - link up those cards here!

Day 90 - Layered

Ok 365ers, hang in there with me while I attempt to post from my phone. Yikes!! Welcome to the wonderful world of a daily challenge blog.

I am in Phoenix, Arizona helping my grandfather celebrate his 85th birthday!!

So here's the challenge... Create 4 layers, using any elements of your choosing, on your card.

And here's Audrey's card

Isn't that stunning with that paper from Heidi Stock Design?

As promised, I will continue to update this post as I can, but the very least I can do now is add Mr. Linky...

Day 89 - Feeling Fussy

I must tell you how much I've enjoyed using these digi papers by Heidi Stock - not only are they gorgeous, but I was able to size them to suit my needs.

Here's the challenge for today along with my card

Use fussy cutting on at least 2 elements of your card

I used this honeycomb paper for the background and cut around the various shapes.  I also cut some bees out of some coordinating bumblebee paper.

I don't know about you, but I use fussy cutting on a lot of my projects.  If you don't often or haven't used this technique, now's your chance.  Give it a try and link up your card here.

Day 87 - Sing-a-Long Saturday

Sometimes I pick the song to inspire you, but this time it's all on your shoulders to pick a song...

Specifically, we want to know what song motivates you to get going, to get things done.

DoBea chose Stronger, by Kelly Clarkson.  And I have to agree that it's a great choice.

Here's her card

What a beautiful card!

I love listening to music when I craft, and happy upbeat songs usually help me create.  So how about you?  What song wakes you up and gets you going?  Let that inspire your card...

Day 86 - Color Scheme

Hello and Happy Friday!

I hope I didn't confuse y'all too much with my challenge mistakes over the past couple of days.  They challenges haven't changed, but I posted Thursday's challenge on Wednesday and I've since changed them to where they belong.  Whew!!
Okay, let's get back to business...

Here's your color combo for today

And here's Jennifer's card

Oh those adorable birds and that whimsical tree just make me smile!
How do these colors inspire you?  Create a card and share it with us here...

Day 85 - Divide and Conquer

***FYI - I mistakenly posted Thursday's challenge on Wednesday. I have simply changed the challenge numbers, so Divide and Conquer is now Day 85 instead of Day 84. And you'll now see the correct challenge posted for Wednesday.  My apologies if I've caused any confusion.***

Here's a fun little challenge that probably sounds harder than it is...

Divide the background into 6 parts - each part decorated differently.  Those parts do not have to be equal in size and shape.

Here's Michelle's fabulous example

Beautifully done, don't you think?

Give this one a try and see what you come up with...

Day 84 - Keep it Simple

***FYI - I mistakenly posted Thursday's challenge on Wednesday.  I have simply changed the challenge numbers, so Divide and Conquer is now Day 85 instead of Day 84.  My apologies if I've caused any confusion.***

Today's challenge is to create a Clean & Simple card using only 1/3 of the space provided.  The card size and theme are entirely up to you.

Erin is jumping in today with her example

I knew Erin could handle this challenge, and she did a wonderful job!

You can use any third of the card you wish, and we won't be pulling out a ruler to double-check, lol, so just get creative while keeping it simple...

Great job!!!

Today's challenge is called Opposites Attract because we're looking for a set of opposites -- colors, patterns, images, words - anything you can think of do really stand out on your card.

Audrey chose black and white

This is stunning - really artistic!!

You want those opposites that you choose to really pop, so make them stand out on your card and link it up here.

Day 82 - Colors of Spring

It's raining here today, but I'm sure there's sunshine somewhere, and I'd love to see some bright springy colors on your cards for this challenge.

In fact let's make it a minimum of FIVE colors that make you think of Spring.

Here's my card for the challenge

All my colors came from buttons that look like blossoms

I stenciled on some stems and there's the card.

You can use as many colors as you want, but use a minimum of 5, and black, brown, and grey cannot count as your 5.

Day 80 - Imagine This: Fire

I love these challenges that are wide open for interpretation.  There's no major restrictions, just the opportunity for some serious creativity.

So here's how it works - just imagine the word "Fire" and let it inspire your card.  Colors, images, words - anything fits as long as it works for you.

Check out DoBea's card

Oh yes, this fits all right and it's simply fabulous!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we'll meet you back here tomorrow with another sketch...

Day 79 - Color Scheme

Hey 365ers, sorry for the late post - it's been a hectic day in my world.  But all is well - just busy :-)

But enough about that, let's get to the color combo

And here's Jennifer's card

Beautiful - love that big bold sentiment!

This has got to be my favorite color scheme so far, and I can't wait to see what you do with it...

Day 78 - Fun With Fabric

It probably sounds like I would like you to use fabric on your card, doesn't it?  But that's not the case with this challenge.

Looking around your home you might realize how you've surrounded yourself with patterns and colors that please you, so it makes sense that these would inspire a beautiful card, doesn't it.

Pick a fabric that you love and use it to inspire your card design.

Michelle chose a quilt, and it must be gorgeous because her card certainly is

Don't you agree?

So explore your space and find a fabric that inspires you - and please feel free to share a photo of it so we can see, too!

Day 77 - Wordy

Hey 365ers, I'm jumping in again today with a challenge called "Wordy".  And it's pretty simple -

We're looking for a mix of sentiments on your card, scattered about, and they need not be from the same source (stamps, stickers, die-cut letters, etc.).  Although mine were all from stickers

There aren't a lot of rules for this one, but I'd love to see you get crazy with it and have fun trying out a bunch of sentiments.

Did I mention we have a sponsor this week?  Crimson Cloud is back again this month with a fabulous prize for one lucky winner.  So play along this week, and that winner might just be you.

Beautiful work!!

CreaJaqueline

Caroline Tan
Studio Sara

As always, way to go on getting all those challenges done!

We have a My Heart Pieces prize winner...

Congrats to

CreaJacqueline

Please contact me HERE to claim your prize.

Today's challenge is all about shapes - specifically a SQUARE.  We want you to use 3 squares on your card, and NOT have them overlap in any way.

Think you can do it?

Here's what Audrey came up with

Wow, those bold colors create a stunning card!

And there are the 3, non-overlapping squares, well done.

It's not a terrible difficult challenge, but how will you use those 3 squares?

Day 75 - Tone on Tone

Hello and Happy Monday!!!

I hope you've had a little sunshine and blue skies.  I've had the good fortune of looking out the window at a cloudless sky today, which is quite a gift here in the Pacific Northwest.

So with today's challenge I was able to craft a card that fit with the weather here.

The challenge is to add letters, images, patterns or anything you can think of that creates a tone-on-tone appearance.

I chose to layer letters I cut out of patterned paper right over the same pattern to create part of the sentiment, check it out

You have lots of freedom with this challenge - whether you use paper or embellishments there must be an overlap between at least 2 elements that creates a tone-on-tone look.  In this case, I used the exact same patterned paper for my two elements, but it's not necessary.  What you use is completely up to you...

Day 73 - The 3 F's

Let's finish off the week with 3 trigger words that begin with the letter F...

Floss, Fuschia and Flower

Those are the words, and here is DoBea's card

Wow - absolutely gorgeous!! And all the elements are there.  Such a great finish to a fun week of challenges.

We'll meet you back here tomorrow with a sketch...

Day 72 - Color Scheme

Let's take a break from our trigger words, and throw out a color scheme to try...

Bright, fresh colors, and here's Jennifer's example

So beautiful with that image from My Heart Pieces and that yummy ribbon!

How will this color scheme inspire your card?

Day 71 - The 3 G's

Hey 365ers, we've got another set of trigger words for you, and they all begin with a G.

Here they are along with Michelle's card

Green, Grass and Glitter

What an adorable image from My Heart Pieces and a beautiful card from Michelle!

So now it's your turn to grab these trigger words and design a card with them...

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Day 70 - The 3 C's

Today I am sharing another card with you and the trigger words begin with a C...

Colorful, Coffee, and Classy

Hmmm....after I thought about it I realized that "classy" is tough to convey, but I decided I was up for the challenge, so here's what I came up with

The purpose behind this challenge is to trigger whatever these words mean to you, so don't feel as if there are any expectations and just have fun creating, however you're inspired to do so...

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Day 69 - The 3 B's

Let's get today kicked off with some Spotlight Designers...

And let's not forget our Weekly Challenge All-Stars

Great job everyone!!
Today's challenge is to create a card with 3 trigger words beginning with the letter B.  Those three words are

Black, Blue, and Button

Here's what Audrey came up with

Gorgeous card, and that it one fabbie image from My Heart Pieces.

So now it's your turn to take those three B's and use them in your card design...
