Day 334 - So Good

This one is pretty straightfoward...

Just use the word "Good" as part of your sentiment, EXCEPT that you cannot say "goodbye". Other than that, anything goes.

Day 333 - At This Moment

As you're reading this post, think about where are you at this very moment, whether it's the exact place or an activity you did today, that should be the thing that inspires your card.

This wonderful card perfectly captured how she felt at the moment she created it.

Don't spend a lot of time thinking about it, just let how you feel or what you are doing at this moment inspire your card design.

Day 332 - Itsy Bitsy

Make a teeny tiny card - less than 3" by 3" - otherwise the dimensions are up to you.

Day 331 - Nautical

Hmmmm - can it really be that simple?

Why, yes it is. Today's challenge has a theme, and that theme is anything "Nautical".

It's one of those where you might be thinking that you would like a good example to get those creative juices flowing. And you know you can count on Kim to provide one.

Wow, this is fantastic - such a peaceful looking image...

I didn't want to be too specific on the challenge, and there are lots of possibilities. So give your card a "nautical" look and the rest of the design is up to you.

Day 327 - Shape Up!

This challenge is all about fun with shapes and really making them count on your card.

You can use any shape you want as long as it has scalloped edges, and you really want to feature them on your card.

It seems scallops can be found everywhere - on stamps, punches, patterned paper - and now they can be all over your card...

Put your sentiment on the front of the card, and the decorations on the inside. Keep any decorations on the outside down to little or none.

Day 324 - Bold Banner

Okay, I am going on two snow days in a row - yikes! It's time for the kids to get back to school so Mom can get back to work!!

But seriously, we do have a challenge for today and it's called Bold Banner.

We've had a sort of create-a-banner challenge before, but this one requires that you make it the focal point of your card and incorporate it into the sentiment.

Day 322 - Feeling Scrappy

As much as I love buying new papers, I've got lots of scraps that are still useful and I like to have an excuse to dig them out (and dust them off, lol!).

And that's what today's challenge is all about

Dig through those scraps and find 3 patterned papers and 2 pieces of cardstock to use on your card. Aside from the cardstock base, the paper you use should be from scraps of paper.

And her card design is perfect for small scraps of paper - no need to cut down anything new.

So start digging and find some paper that needs to find a home on your card...

Day 320 - On the Fringes

There's no embellishment quite like fringe, so let's really use it for this challenge.

Here are the specifics

Use fringe in two different places on your card - not just around the base of the card.

Wow, this would make a perfect wedding or anniversary card! Or maybe even a non-traditional Valentine.

What we consider to be fringe varies, and you can always make your own using ribbon or paper, so don't limit yourself to already made fringe.

Day 319 - Just Me & My Shadow

Using shadow effects on cards can really enhance an image, and that is the focus of today's challenge.

Combine a shadow with words or an image and feature it on your card.

Beautifully colored image! And you can see how she darkened the green around the image to create a shadow.

It can be subtle or bold, and you can use words or images, as long as you create a shadow.

Day 318 - Mini Monogram

Here's a cute little challenge -

Create a mini monogram or something similar on your card. The idea is to not make it the focus of the card, but just a nice little edition.

Day 317 - Imagine This: Candy Land

With my girls, I'm playing lots of board/card games appropriate for young children. One of my faves is Candy Land, which of course I enjoyed when I was little, too. I think it's the rainbow colors and all that candy that still appeals to me.

And then I thought to myself that it would inspire lots of wonderful cards, and that is how I arrived at this challenge.

And I don't believe I already mentioned it, so I'll say it now - your pair doesn't have to be a combined, so in this case you can have green stripes, but it's not a requirement.

Combine 4 ways to add a sentiment to your card -- ideas are stamping (ink or digi), computer-generated, alphas, handwritten, stickers, chipboard letters, etc.

She used stamping, die cut, paint and wire to create the sentiment.

All you need to do is take some stamped, handwritten, computer generated, etc. (whatever method you can think of) letters and cut them out individually as part of your sentiment.

You can set all your letters side-by-side or scatter them all over your card. Make some "cute cuts" and add them to your card however you like...

Day 301 - Flashback in Monday

As we approach the end of another great calendar year, it's an opportunity to look back on some of the challenges we've had here at 365 Cards. If you could go back and re-do a challenge, which one would it be? Well, that's the question I asked Annie, Audrey, Kim, Hannah, Jennifer, and DoBea, and they've all selected a challenge that they would like you to re-visit from this past year.

Annie chose Signature Sentiment from Day 29.

Here's how that challenge works:

Do you have a signature expression that you use? Or perhaps you'd like to create a card with someone who does. Either way, that should be the sentiment on your card.

Annie says it's important for her to remember to "Believe" in herself and her potential. That's such a beautiful word and so perfect for this time of year!

Day 299 - World Landmarks

It's Christmas Eve, and I am pausing in my day of celebrating with family to write this post.

'Tis the season where there are lots of different types of celebrations and traditions all over the world. Wherever you are and however you celebrate, I hope you are enjoying yourself!

And speaking of things from all over the world, that is at the heart of today's challenge. Select a well-known landmark from anywhere in the world to inspire or include on your card.

What landmark did you first think of when you read this challenge? Perhaps it will make a lovely addition yo your card...

Day 298 - Two Techniques

But not just any two techniques!

The two that you need to use on your card are

Masking and Stenciling

And Jennifer did a beautiful job with both, check out her card

The swirls in the background were traced from a stencil and she used masking to add the word "dreamer" in the lower right corner.

It doesn't have to be elaborate, just a simple use of these techniques will do...

Day 297 - White Space

Wow this is absolutely stunning! And Hannah's photograph of this card is spectacular as well. It really accentuates the beauty of the card.

So here's how it works - just limit your decorations on the card to the areas that are blacked out, and you will meet the requirements of the challenge. Any theme will do, and then link your card up here.

Day 296 - In Stitches

Here's your challenge for today, and it will surely have you "in stitches"

Use two different types of stitches on your card - only one type can be machine stitching if you choose it.

And if you look closely at Kim's card, you'll see some faux stitching, which absolutely counts as one of your stitches.

If you like stitching on your cards, then you will like this one. And if you aren't too sure, then it will probably be a challenge.

Day 292 - So Soothing

Are you the kind of person who likes a make a visit to the spa on occasion? Do you find it peaceful lying in a hammock or listening to relaxing music? If so, then this challenge is definitely for you!

Here's what it calls for

Use soothing colors and images on your card

That's all you have to do. What you consider soothing might vary from somebody else's idea about it.

Here's what DoBea came up with

DoBea said she chose a Spring day because she finds it soothing to relax on nice warm day.

Day 291 - Diamonds and Pearls

Include diamond shapes on your card - more than one (can be patterned paper), and at least 3 "pearls" on your card.

Day 290 - Change of Base

Get it? Change of "Base"? I amuse myself with these silly titles!

But let's get right to the challenge, shall we?

It's called Change of Base because it's all about the card base today. Use anything but cardstock as your card base.

This is definitely a "think outside of the box" kind of challenge, but I know you will rise to the occasion - and of course, link up those cards here...

Day 289 - Pretty Petals

For this challenge, you need to create a large flower on your card using petals you've created yourself. And you can do this any way you want.

Love the simplicity of this card - a beautiful poinsettia with a large sentiment!

Day 287 - Feeling Blue-Green

A fun little play on words there...

Anyway, today's challenge is about using blue-green as a dominant color. There are lots of different names for the various blue-green combos - teal, turquoise, aqua, etc. And that has to be the main color on your card.

I get to share a card with you today, and here's what I came up with

I definitely like to keep things clean and simple :-)

It doesn't have to be the only color, but blue-green needs to be the primary color on your card...

Day 285 - Touchy Feely

Time to add some texture and dimension to your card, and here is the challenge

Add three distinct textures to your card - there are lots of options for this - felt, fleece, flocking, glitter, wet/dry embossing, dimensional adhesive - anything you can think of as long as they each come from a different source.

There are so many options for this challenge, it's just a matter of narrowing it down to three...

Day 284 - Marvelous Mosaic

The concept is fairly simple, but the task might just be challenging.

Create a mosaic on your card, by cutting and placing small pieces of paper to create a lovely design on your card.

You can keep it simple or you can get very detailed, it's up to you.

When I'm out and about, especially these days with all my Christmas shopping, I'm reminded of all the inspiration that surrounds us everywhere.

To inspire you for this challenge, I want you to think of your favorite store. Is it what you can buy there (home decor, antiques) or the great big sign on the building that really stands out?

There's no one thing about the store you choose that can inspire you.

I love this card - it's so beautiful. And honestly, if I didn't know that she used a challenge to inspire this card, I wouldn't automatically think of Target.

Day 278 - Seeing Red...and Green

Are you seeing red and green everywhere? I sure am and although that color combo is generally for Christmas, where going to do it here just because.

But here's the catch....

No Christmas theme for this challenge. And your card must be loaded with red and green. For some this might not be a problem, for others it might be quite tough.

Day 277 - Pick 3

It's time to bring others into your scrapping! Find someone to select THREE scrappy items to include on your card. It can be a decoration or a technique - as long as they can find it in your stash, then it counts. Whatever else you put on your card is up to you.

It's so fun to get the kids involved - I know my girls love to suggest things for me to use.

Day 276 - Card Recipe

Are you in the mood for a yummy recipe? Well, around here they're more "pretty" than "yummy" since we don't generally see cards made out of food, lol.

So here are the ingredients for the challenge:

1 sentiment

So even though she used it 3 times, technically Hannah has used only one stamp :-)

Day 275 - Divide and Conquer

So here's a fun one, I think...

Divide your card into 4 parts - and each part should have a different background pattern. However else you decorate the card is up to you.

Day 274 - Keep it to Yourself

Every now and then I like to throw in one of these "Keep it to Yourself" challenges because it's a good reminder that you don't have to put a sentiment on the front of your card - sometimes the images speak for themselves.

Today's challenge is to have a Winter theme on the front of your card, and if wish to add a sentiment, pop it on the inside of your card.

Day 273 - Pretty in Pastels

How do you feel about pastel colors? It seems people either like them or they don't - not much in-between, but I could be wrong.

What I do know, is that requiring you to use all pastels on your card might be something of a challenge, and so that's what we're looking for on this one. And let's make it a minimum of FOUR colors - nothing bold, either!

Day 271 - Keep it Simple

Sometimes it's nice to just keep things simple and add only a few items to your card. So here's what you need for this challenge

Cardstock base, 1 patterned paper, 2 embellishments, and a sentiment - that's all you can have on your card.

Day 270 - Lovely Layers

Layers are wonderful on cards, and they work with paper and embellies. And today's challenge has to do with layering ribbon.

Day 268 - Fun With Food

For this challenge, you need to use an image of a food item (a beverage will work, too) on your card, and then add a sentiment that incorporates the name of the food.

You know what I'm talking about - those cute little sayings that is a fun play on words.

Day 266 - Spin Me a Yarn

This is a challenge all about creating with yarn. Specifically, create an embellishment out of yarn and add it to your card.

Day 264 - It's the Thought that Counts

You've heard this saying before, but what does it have to do with today's challenge?

It's simple really - just add a thought bubble, or if you prefer, a talking bubble to your card and be sure that your ENTIRE sentiment is in the bubble.

Don't worry if you don't have a stamp or sticker in this shape, because a thought bubble is really easy to make. And then you just add it to your card...

Day 263 - ATC on a Card

This doesn't have to be a true ATC (aka Artist Trading Card), but the idea is to start with a 2.5"x3.5" piece of cardstock and decorate it the way you would any ATC, then add it to your overall card.

Sound easy? Tricky?

As you can see, what you can end up with is a beautiful card!

So you can do this anyway you want, as long as you use an ATC as the general focus of your card.

Day 262 - Feeling Grunge-y

There's a whole style out there devoted to this look, and on cards it definitely works. How you decide to get grungy is up to you.

I knew this one might be a challenge for Hannah, since I believe it's a bit out of her comfort zone. But I think she did a beautiful job, check it out

Day 259 - Try a Technique

Before I share today's challenge, I want to draw your attention to Sunday DTer Manoli's blog. Please check out her post HERE and leave a comment. Today is World Diabetes Day, and Manoli and I both have a child with Diabetes. We would like to help raise awareness for this disease, and she has created a beautiful gift card for the occasion.

Today's challenge is called "Try a Technique", and the technique we want you to try (if you haven't before) is Spotlighting with stamping.

The idea is to draw attention to just one little stamp or an aspect of a stamp.

Day 250 - Sketch in Reverse

DoBea and I have done this before, and it was such fun that we decided to post this challenge again...

I'm calling it "Sketch in Reverse" because DoBea created a card of her own design, and I created a sketch based on that card.

Since we're doing this in reverse, here's her card

2. Create a sketch from DoBea's card and then design your card based your sketch

Day 249 - Catchy Phrase

You'll notice that here at 365 Cards I often use the same title for certain types of challenges, such as White Space, Ad Inspired, Imagine This, Opposite Day, etc. Well I'm adding a new type called "Catchy Phrase". I will post a phrase, and you'll need to use it to inspire your card.

So today's catchy phrase is "Festive Fall With a Little Fringe" and you can interpret that however you want, but be sure to share with us how it inspired your card.

Oh I just love this. That is a perfect Fall image, and there's some fabulous trim to go along with it.

I think this type of challenge will inspire a wide variety of cards and I look forward to seeing all the cards that are posted!

Day 248 - Detached

It's always great to get a card that has something detachable that becomes an extra little treat for the recipient. You know how in the stores they sometimes include stickers, pins, paper dolls, or other such trinkets? Well here's a challenge that has you doing that on your own handmade card.

Create a detachable component of your card.

Day 247 - 1+1 = 1 Whole New Image

This is a fun one, and it works with all kinds of stamps, rubber or digi -

Take a part of one image, combine it with another, and create a whole new image.

Here's a great example from Kim

She took the pilgrim from Robyn's Fetish and combined it with a basket image and Ta-Da - A fabulous new image!!

Nicely done, Kim.

You can do this with images all over the place, even with some fussy cutting from patterned paper. Get creative and start creating new images of your own, and then link up your cards here...

By the way, I've struggled with Blogger when it comes to commenting on some of the cards. It depends on the format of the comment box, but it tells me that I don't have permission and that I will have to log in with a different email address. If anyone has a solution, please let me know. I just want you to know that I've tried commenting (some work, so don't) on lots of cards and I'm not dissing you I promise!!

So today's challenge is all about celebrating cards with everyday sorts of sentiments and themes. It sounds easy at first, but you need to avoid specific occasions, including a Thank You, Missing You, Get Well, Birthdays, Holidays, etc.

It needs to be something you would send for an "everyday" purpose.

Day 236 - Evens and Odds

Hey 365 Cards Fans!

It's been a busy day for me -- one I've come to affectionately refer to as Soccer Saturday. I have a break between sporting events to bring you this challenge and my card to go along with.

Here's the challenge:

You need to have an even number of embellishments and an odd number of embellishments on your card. The sentiment does not count as either, so you can choose to add that however you wish.

And here's my example

I've got three different patterned papers -- some Basic Grey Halloween-themed paper. I counted the purple floss as one of my embellishments and the pumpkin charm as the other.

You can have as much patterned paper and as many embellishments as you want, as long as you stick to the rule of evens and odds in this challenge.

Day 235 - Seeing Spots

I just adore polka dotted paper, so I wanted to have a challenge that celebrates this style of patterned paper.
